Morning Platitude from The GratiDude
Some of the numbers and the statistics on the number of thoughts that we think every day are just staggering.
It really does drive home the fact that we have a supercomputer resting between our ears and most of us choose not to participate in choosing the programming or the software that we run on our supercomputer.
We just let anybody come on in and slide in some programs or a line of code when we visit a website or social media post or watch a television program or a news feed that is scarcity based, or that encourages comparison between yourself and others, or that send a message that you are simply not enough as you are today.
And that’s a good measuring stick for if a message should be internalized or not, is if the message is telling you that there’s something wrong with you right now and that you are lacking.
There’s nothing wrong with you and you aren’t lacking anything. You are just having thoughts that are telling you that you are lacking. That is different than being lacking. You have everything you need to live your life and to pursue your gifts and greatness.
There is only one person that is along for the entire ride of your life, and that is your higher-self, patiently riding shotgun and encouraging you to steer towards your dreams and to put your foot down hard on the gas pedal and be unwavering as you drive in that direction.
Inside your higher self, that small voice that is connected to something much bigger than all of us, you have your hype squad and your cheerleader your head coach your motivator it’s all right there.
And if you don’t believe me, just watch this little kid here after he makes contact with the baseball and says to it “bye-bye.”
Your internal dialogue, or inner voice, is extremely important to your health as it significantly influences your perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors, impacting your mental well-being by shaping how you interpret events, make decisions, and respond to situations; a positive internal dialogue can boost self-esteem and resilience, while a negative one can contribute to anxiety and depression.
Key points about the importance of internal dialogue:
Self-awareness and reflection:
Your inner voice allows you to reflect on your experiences, beliefs, and emotions, fostering self-awareness.
Decision-making:
By weighing pros and cons internally, you can make informed choices based on your values and priorities.
Emotion regulation:
Positive self-talk can help manage stress and anxiety, while negative self-talk can exacerbate these emotions.
Motivation and goal setting:
Your inner voice can provide encouragement and motivation to achieve your goals.
Impact on mental health:
A critical or overly negative internal dialogue can contribute to mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem.
How to manage your internal dialogue:
Cognitive restructuring:
Identify and challenge negative thought patterns, replacing them with more positive and realistic ones.
Mindfulness meditation:
Practice being aware of your thoughts without judgment to observe your internal dialogue.
Positive affirmations:
Deliberately use positive self-talk to counter negative thoughts.
Therapy:
If your internal dialogue is significantly impacting your life, seeking professional help can be beneficial.
“Bye-Bye! Bye-Bye!”
This kid believed he was going to hit a home run, and when the bat made contact with the ball, he knew all he had to do was to run to complete his manifestation exercise.
I have a coaching client we’ll call E who is doing incredibly well as a young man forging his path up in the ATL area.
E has dabbled in a few different businesses, worked for some toxic leaders in the pursuit of stable paychecks, and is now working on himself and his personal development in order to prepare himself for greatness in the world of entrepreneurship.
I am really proud of him!!
There is a tremendous amount of internal work that needs to be done for most ordinary folks to overcome the fears, uncertainty and doubts that are pedaled and perpetrated out there in society through all the fear-based information that is available to us.
For my buddy E in the ATL my prescription is starting with the very basics just like we will in our Grateful4.org Coaching Program in conjunction with TypeCoach, later in the first quarter.
In other words, let’s create a consistent program starting with your morning routine that gives you a framework to operate from an energetic frequency to return to during the day.
The message here is that the answers that you are looking for to overcome your fears are not outside of you but inside of you. It’s a remarkably interesting conundrum because the most productive activity to help you find the answers you’re looking for is a lack of activity.
Being still and focusing on you breathing allows you to suspend future and past thoughts and opens your mind up to the generous present moment of now.
You will know when you get there as you will be connected to breath, and you will get a whiff of the calm that you were looking to have permeate your entire life.
What happens if you build a meditation practice, and this is not just my personal experience, but having read and talked with others and studied guided meditation, it’s like a groove in a vinyl record on a turntable that will get deeper and deeper every time you play it.
The needle falls more easily into the groove on the 33rpm record, and that is where that saying comes from to be “in the groove” my Peeps.
As we get into the latter part of the six week coaching program, we will work with you on the nuances of your meditation practice and also offer some breakout one on ones to answer any questions and to help you address any specific challenges or obstacles you might be experiencing in your practice.
As you get more comfortable with this stillness and spend more time in it in the morning, your mind and body remember the feeling of being present and how good it is for your overall organism relative to homeostasis and healthy functionality.
Your body and brain will crave coming back to this place, like a tuning fork reminds you of pitch, and the more time in stillness the more subconsciously you will crave it.
Furthermore, what happens is your day becomes increasingly calm as the feeling and the frequency of that stillness and presence continues to grow and become integrated into how you move through the universe every single day.
Everything comes back to your breath.
Breathing is life.
How and when you breathe, controls your nervous system, which drastically influences your thoughts and subsequent behavior.
We are sharing this information to help you understand ways that you can improve the quality of your life experience and to feel empowered and to give you permission to pursue your own greatness.

I really want to see you in Orlando even if it’s just for a minute or two.
If you haven’t yet seen the ZIGIT SaaS platform for automated retail and beverage service in the golf industry we will start there, and you can check that out. Our SaaS platform Guru Chris “Don’t Worry” Hurry is coming down from the Mountains outside of Flagstaff to do demos and answer questions for all you folks!
Rob Toomey, Founder and President of TypeCoach, will be at Orlando Show on Wednesday as well, so it will be a great opportunity to learn more about the Learning Systems program that Proctor and Gamble paid to put 27,000 employees through.
27000!!!!
The stuff must be good, right?
We are going to all learn to “get quiet and still” to get great and make moves in 2025.
And it all rests upon our attitude of gratitude.
