Morning Platitude from The GratiDude
I used to have a mindset of defeatism at certain times where I would tell myself I wouldn’t be able to do something, or I wouldn’t be able to find something I was looking for.
And of course, I didn’t complete the task, nor did I find the thing I was looking for because my subconscious had already predetermined that I was not going to complete it or find it.
It was a weird sort of lack of self-love to not have any faith in myself even in the smallest things and it’s interesting how we tend to put up most of the limits that we experience in terms of different areas of our life that become either stagnant or even as far as failing to pursue dreams by quickly making up reasons why it’s not a good idea to pursue that dream.
I can remember 10 years ago thinking that I would have to be playing golf from one Tee Box up because of my current rate of improvement, flexibility, and strength. I didn’t see myself getting any longer off the Tee. In fact, it seemed like it was going to go the other way.
Funny thing is I played golf today with LB, aka “El Sod God del Norteño” and hit it just as far as I ever have in my life and even further because I’m so much healthier and I don’t put any limits on my ability to do remarkable things and I believe I can do those things.
The biggest area and most impactful sphere of self-limitation is the one of self-expression and joy.
When we learn it and stifle our feelings and thoughts that we have inside of us and tell ourselves that our opinion or our expression or our creative manifestations are not worthy of sharing, we diminish our own light, and we literally make ourselves sick with a lack of self-love and self-care.
You will hear of people and know people that have neck problems at the Chiropractor, throat maladies and thyroid issues in their neck and other things of this nature that definitely are real physically, but they often occur within individuals that have completely stifled their own most important areas of expression. These areas could be numerous; perhaps artistic creativity, emotional needs and wants, health requirements, the important expression of dreams and desires, fears and concerns.
Anything that stays bottled up push down crammed down or a dream that is self-extinguished turns to poison inside of us.
From personal experience, I can tell you that it is the shit that really hurts you from the inside and leads you to making decisions that either aren’t beneficial to you or at the very least aren’t very much fun.
Yes, self-expression can significantly improve your mood and overall well-being by allowing you to release pent-up emotions, gain self-awareness, and feel more connected to yourself and others, leading to a sense of relief and positive feelings.
Key points about how self-expression can make you feel better:
Emotional release:
Expressing your thoughts and feelings openly can act as a cathartic process, reducing stress and anxiety by releasing built-up emotions.
Self-awareness:
Engaging in self-expression encourages you to explore your inner thoughts and feelings, leading to greater self-understanding and personal growth.
Improved mental health:
Studies have shown a link between authentic self-expression and better mental health, including reduced symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Deeper connections:
Sharing your true self with others can foster stronger relationships and a sense of belonging.
Creativity and fulfillment:
Expressing yourself through creative outlets like art, writing, or music can be a fulfilling experience and tap into your unique potential.
What if this Artist limited their expression to traditional art forms?
That would’ve sucked, right??
And shouldn’t we have as much fun as possible on this brief ride?
I’ll answer that for you, yes!
Another fundamental key area where we limit ourselves is our ability to see the beauty around us every single day.
This limit is imposed, not willingly, but through a contract that we enter with our breathing and our breath.
When we get into holding our breath, we have just entered into a contract of no longer participating in our own life, becoming blind to all of the great things around us in the form of creation and our existence because we are definitely thinking of either a past or a future thought, and our anxiety meter is cranking up.
Extinguish that limit of your ability to enjoy your life with a single cycle of a few deep inhales and exhales and voila!
You no longer have a limit on your ability to see an experience with your senses and your consciousness can participate in the miraculous nature of everything going on around you. Breath in the people, absorb the places, connect with all of the animals, thank the insects, exchange gases with the plants, learn from the trees, nose-breath the air, splash in the the water.
Miracles everywhere working together forever even beyond you and me.
No limits might be the theme for today if you keep it cool and chill Sunday style with an attitude of gratitude.
