Morning Platitude from The GratiDude
It has been said and sung in many songs that you can’t hurry love and that you’ll just have to wait for it. This is absolutely true and one more reason we need to keep our eyes wide open and stay connected to our breath.
I can remember walking on the beach in Santa Cruz back in the early 90s with my sister Jane and talking about my future and wondering aloud if I would ever find a woman to have a family with. Jane smiled a reassuring smile and just laughed and told me that I had nothing to worry about.
I recall it being a cool reassurance that I would be a tremendous catch for the right woman at the right time and I just need to keep doing the things that make me happy and healthy like I was doing back then…. Mountain biking around the Monterey Bay pursuing an education.
The older I get the more I realize that the cliché that everything is simply energy and timing becomes clearer and holds truer for me as being a fundamental fact of reality.
You may have an energetic connection with someone that could be cosmic in nature, and felt immediately however, if you are not present in the moment to recognize this potential energetic compatibility, you may miss this opportunity, like two ships passing in the night.
And those of us that do have people in our lives that we love very much, we need to prioritize these individuals in our lives, even if they are not near us, geographically or physically, and make sure that we maintain an energetic connection and that we stay in each other’s consciousness and respect the power of our beautiful relationship .
I don’t mean just romantic connections , I mean personal connections that are authentic, genuine, and built on love and concern and genuine care.
For me here in Florida, I think of a handful of mentors and dear friends like Bob Dugan, Tom Christopoul, Bruce Gerlander, George Henry, guys that I don’t get to see regularly however I think about them every day and I want to make sure that they know that I’m always here for them to support them and help them in any way possible.
By making sure that I include them in my conscious thoughts and in my prayers and meditations, I am also respecting and reminding myself of the importance of seeing how God works through people in your life, and to treat these organic and cosmic connections as being extensions of the source of all light, love, energy, and life.
Because that’s exactly what they are.
Yes, expressing love and appreciation, often referred to as practicing gratitude, can significantly contribute to better health by reducing stress, improving mood, strengthening relationships, and even positively impacting physical well-being like blood pressure and immune function; feeling loved and valued can have a positive impact on your overall health.
Key points about the benefits of expressing love and appreciation:
Hormonal release:
When you express love and appreciation, your body releases hormones like oxytocin, often called the “love hormone,” which promotes feelings of well-being and connection with others.
Stress reduction:
Positive interactions and expressions of gratitude can effectively lower stress levels, which can benefit both mental and physical health.
Improved mood:
Feeling appreciated can boost your mood and sense of self-worth, leading to increased happiness and positive emotions.
Stronger relationships:
Regularly expressing love and appreciation strengthens bonds with family and friends, creating a supportive social network.
Potential physical benefits:
Studies have shown that practicing gratitude may contribute to better sleep, improved cardiovascular health, and even a stronger immune system.
Some people get on our life train for just one or two stops and others, we want to make sure they stay on our train forever so we treat them with the best seat on the train and extra comfortable blankets and pillows so they don’t want to move at all.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to keep great people close and to keep them along for the ride as long as possible as long as they’re happy and healthy, as that sounds like a win-win situation.
And as we get closer and closer to the transition out of this physical existence, as our bodies eventually run out of steam and can no longer service our spirits, we know that these precious people in our lives are the true wealth that give us comfort and provide our lives meaning much more so than all of our worldly pursuits, business practices and academic achievements ever will.
When you make relationships, love and kindness your core focus in your life you see great relationships, love, and kindness in the world as well.
Friendships and romantic relationships operate at a frequency much higher than anything we will ever see in the new cycle so why not put the phone down, turn off the computer, or the Smellavision, and go for a walk with a friend.
Or if you need to use your phone, use it to send a message to an old friend that you’re overdue to connect with just to let them know one of the favorite things about them that you love very much and that you appreciate having them in your life. Both you and the person that receives the message will feel better afterwards, so go ahead and do that right now.
And while you’re at it, keep going with that vibe for the rest of the day and give everybody in the grocery store a little bite of your attitude of gratitude.
