Things-Dr. Richard

Morning Platitude from The GratiDude

What would everyone do day-to-day with their brief life if they had 10% less fear?

With 95% of our thoughts on repeat if you took out 10% of those thoughts and replace them with abundance-spirited thoughts, what would their behavior look like and how might it change?

What if half of your fears were replaced with positive affirmations and excitement?

What if you had no fear at all other than just the fear that protects you from physical harm and danger true animalistic survival fear only? What if we had none of the bullshit fear that we manufacture from programming and the consumption of all the fear based information that is so prevalent in modern societies that are disconnected from nature?

If you stay in the city all day every day, it would be easy to believe that the people in the Banks have all the power, or that it is the finance folks on Wall Street who truly are pulling all the strings and you have no control at all.

But if you caught the first train out of town and took it all the way to the end of the line, and walked away from the station until the road changed from concrete to dirt, and then just kept walking until that dirt road stopped being a road and turned into a trail, and then kept walking some more you would realize those bankers don’t have any fucking power and that all the juice is in the hands of Mother Nature.

However, if you were in the woods deep and you somehow had a cell phone signal, and you were staring at your phone, you would go right back to thinking that the bank oversees everything because you’re no longer connected to what’s going on around you.

You must imagine that Fatboy Slim in his 20s after studying at the university telling his parents that he was going to pursue a DJ career making and producing music they probably shit themselves.

I think the same thing when I see the kids across the street at the Ringling College of art here in Sarasota. That school is expensive and the artists that are attending there are extremely elite and from all over the world, however, there has to be a whole bunch of parents that are paying that tuition every year.

They can’t believe their kid chose art for a career when they could’ve been a doctor or a lawyer

It takes real guts to follow your heart, especially at a young age, and to choose a path that is connected to your passion and trust that things will work out and not take the bait of all of the fear in programming and making decisions based upon other people’s proclivities, passions or interest instead of your own.

According to research, yes, people who love their jobs tend to be healthier, as a fulfilling job can lead to reduced stress, increased happiness, a stronger sense of purpose, and better overall well-being, which can positively impact physical and mental health.

Key points about why loving your job can be beneficial for health:

Reduced stress:

When you enjoy your work, you experience less stress, which can lower the risk of stress-related health issues like high blood pressure and heart disease.

Increased happiness:

Job satisfaction contributes to overall happiness, leading to a more positive outlook on life and potentially healthier lifestyle choices.

Sense of purpose:

Meaningful work can provide a sense of purpose and accomplishment, boosting self-esteem and motivation.

Social connection:

A positive work environment can foster strong social connections with colleagues, which are important for mental health.

Improved physical health:

Studies suggest that people who are engaged in their work may be more likely to maintain healthy habits like regular exercise and good nutrition.

Important considerations:

Work-life balance is key:

Even if you love your job, maintaining a healthy work-life balance is crucial to prevent burnout and maintain overall well-being.

Job type matters:

Certain professions may inherently have higher stress levels, even if you enjoy the work.

Individual differences:

Not everyone experiences the same level of health benefits from a satisfying job, and personal factors can play a significant role.

Our life experience is so unique to us and such a gift that it should look different than everyone else else’s because there is no one else exactly like you amongst the 7.5 billion hairless monkeys running around this hurtling rock known as Earth.

I was having a conversation with a dear friend last night ( The wonderful SPH ) and we were talking about limiting thoughts and other things that prevent us from pursuing our dreams with the vigor and ferocity that we should. We concluded that the most important thing is to get comfortable in your own stillness recognize when there are certain beliefs or thoughts that aren’t serving you and breathe through the process of letting them go. For now, let’s not worry about the origin or who is the source of this unwelcome thought or belief, let’s just exercise it for now and if we’re curious or able to put together the origin of some of these beliefs that aren’t serving us that’s fine and dandy.

The most immediate concern right now is to recognize our own thoughts and start to develop that thought awareness so we can choose what thoughts are deserving of our energy and what thoughts we should figuratively starve and not provide any attention to.

This is the practice of mindfulness every single day and it’s how you build your own understanding of self to create space for more healing and subsequently more joy.

If you understand what I am writing here and you feel that you could use some help around this process please reach out to me. This is what I want to do for you. Help you untie that knot and give you the tools to emancipate yourself from thoughts that are limiting your own personal enjoyment or pursuit of your greatness.

It’s $1 million Monday if you believe it is so let’s uplift each other and respect the interconnectedness of all of us with a spring forward attitude of gratitude.
