Morning Platitude from The GratiDude

There is truly little doubt that everyone takes themselves too seriously and this author is no exception.

The amount of time we spend thinking about ourselves in our own situation is pretty astronomical when there’s so much other interesting shit to learn about and look at all around us. You would think we would pull our head out of our own ass more often and be more often present as an interested observer.

But no way, I have an important fear, concern or preoccupation that has my attention, and I seem to be missing out on my participation in my own life. Sometimes.

Take it from me as a person who spends every morning in stillness and doing breathwork, practicing connected movement and meditation, and I am still constantly wrestling my ego to the ground during the day to make sure that I can stay grounded in a grateful present moment awareness manner as much as possible.

Easier said than done, ha! But that’s what makes it worthwhile and interesting is the practice and to continually give myself grace during my own learning and growth which will never end during this physical lifetime.

And when I catch myself and laugh at myself in a playful manner, it’s also a great opportunity to reflect on the miraculous nature of simply being here as you look up into the sky at night and realize how infinite our physical reality appears to be and that we’re on a rock spinning around a hot star and we’re all hurtling through space and by some invisible laws, we don’t float away and we’re grounded on this living organism known as earth.

We are living in a sci-fi movie, but because it’s so familiar it doesn’t seem science fiction like.

That’s just the set up to encourage you to be as silly as you want to be and to do your best to get away with having as much fun as possible without getting arrested or completely ostracized from your community.

Short of that, you should go all in on the giggles and the silliness.

That means you can even throw a walrus a birthday party if you want to.

Yes, engaging in silliness and play can be beneficial for your health, promoting well-being and even relieving pain by triggering the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals.

Here’s a more detailed look at the benefits:

Endorphin Release:

Play and silliness can trigger the release of endorphins, which promote an overall sense of well-being and can temporarily relieve pain.

Improved Brain Function:

Engaging in playful activities can improve brain function and cognitive flexibility.

Stress Reduction:

Laughter and play can help reduce stress and anxiety by promoting relaxation and a positive outlook.

Enhanced Mood:

Silliness and play can uplift your mood and help you cope with tricky situations by providing a sense of fun and lightheartedness.

Social Connection:

Shared silliness and play can strengthen social bonds and foster a sense of community.

Creativity and Imagination:

Engaging in playful activities can stimulate creativity and imagination, which are important for overall well-being.

Physical Health:

Even silly activities like a silly walk can be a fun way to get exercise and improve physical health.

You can’t look to other people for approval or for a recipe on what makes you truly happy or what brings you joy.

Life will give you opportunities, like the buffet at Sizzler, to try different things and put different things on your plate and see what you want to go back to for seconds and thirds maybe.

To recognize when you have opportunities to experience things or to try new things you have to be present in the NOW and you have to be willing to take some chances and to not let fear dictate your decisions.

This is how you can really enjoy the joy buffet that can be your life when you approach it with a hungry, healthy appetite for an attitude of gratitude.
