Morning Platitude from The GratiDude

Trust me and we can win.

That is what Jerry Beard, who became Craig Stadler’s caddy in 1982 at The Masters, told him before they proceeded to go on and win.

And this is precisely what we need to do in the game of life today and every day when we start off the morning. We need to reinforce the fact that we are teaming up between our ego and our higher-self and with trust and taking direction from our higher-self, we can win the day.

We’ll win the day by staying calm and present, which is the only way to allow the manifestation of our true direction to be clear and present.

In the same fashion that Mr. Stadler had to continue to listen to the advice and to the sagely advice of Jerry over the long four days of the golf event, we too must stay committed to being connected to our higher-self for the long haul.

This is why a practice of self-care in the morning truly does set the tone for your entire day and allow you to confirm and establish that trusting connection to that voice that is always with you that truly access as a compass in your moment to moment navigation as you make decisions aligned with that higher-self.

I want my Christian sisters and brothers to appreciate the fact that effective prayer and the ability to connect to your Creator can only happen when you are OK becoming still and present in the moment of now. This is why building a meditation practice in the morning becomes a practice that is indistinguishable and usually coexists as the same exercise as conscious prayer.

The best way to explain it is to extend the phone metaphor, but instead of a cell phone say that your mind and heart are more like a traditional landline that could have a busy signal if it is occupied or in use. When we are not staying present and connected to NOW even the most important message, the most beneficial blessing from God, can’t get through a busy signal because there is no call waiting for a distracted mind.

“Hey, hang up my bro, it’s God on the other line. He’s got some cool shit to lay on you.”

Well, you would hang up immediately and tell your girlfriend or buddy “oh man I gotta go. It’s God. Click”.

Sorry. It just doesn’t work that way.

Yes, meditation can enhance prayer by helping you quiet your mind, focus your thoughts, and cultivate a deeper connection with God, leading to more meaningful and effective prayer.

Here’s how meditation can support your prayer life:

Quieting the Mind:

Meditation practices, such as focusing on your breath or a mantra, can help you calm the mental chatter and distractions that often hinder focused prayer.

Cultivating Presence:

By regularly meditating, you can train your mind to be present and attentive, which can translate into a more mindful and engaged prayer experience.

Deepening Connection:

Meditation can help you cultivate a sense of inner stillness and receptivity, which allows you to more easily connect with God’s presence and guidance during prayer.

Enhancing Listening:

Meditation can help you develop a more receptive state of mind, making it easier to listen for God’s voice and guidance in your prayer life.

Promoting Self-Reflection:

Meditation can provide a space for introspection and self-awareness, allowing you to examine your thoughts, feelings, and motivations, which can inform and deepen your prayers.

Increasing Mindfulness:

Meditation can help you become more aware of your thoughts, emotions, and actions, which can help you pray with greater intention and focus.

Finding Peace:

Meditation can help you find inner peace and calm, which can make it easier to approach prayer with a sense of trust and surrender.

Opening the Heart:

Meditation can help you open your heart to God’s love and grace, which can lead to a more intimate and meaningful prayer relationship.

You must hang up the phone and make it available to receive the call in other words. Your job is simply to live your life in the present moment of now which is the only place in time that you could receive the messages from your higher self and if you believe in God to receive the messages from your God.

It’s not overly complicated when you say it, but it becomes complicated for most people to practice it.

This is why we’ve created www.grateful4.org.

There are lots of elements and pathways to becoming more present and to feel good in the moment of now, and some involve your physical health, others involve your ability to connect your breath to movement like yoga or tai chi. Other collaborators in G4.org may involve some mental disciplines and understandings of how to integrate and understand your past traumas and life experiences. different approaches to healing and past integration, all of these wonderful thought leaders have and will pass through the Grateful 4 Organization. We draw on all these different elements by including everyone under our ever-expanding tent of collaborators and supporters of leveraging neuroscience positive self-talk and active participation in one’s own health and wellness.

We want you in the driver seat of your life right here, now, and not over in the passenger seat ruminating about something in the past looking in the rearview mirror or looking too far forward and forgetting about what’s happening right now on the road underneath your current tires.

It all starts in the morning and I’m going to keep coming back to that because I believe that is the lynchpin and the pathway into a mindfulness practice is to make the change first thing in the morning and feel the benefits throughout the day.

I would love to hear your feedback on this approach as folks that may start your day here with this message of gratitude, I may be preaching to the choir who is already singing every morning with an attitude of gratitude.
