Morning Platitude from The GratiDude

We all have felt it, in both directions, many times in our lives.

The “it” that I am referring to hear is the experience of having the energy in a room completely shift through the introduction of just one person’s energy.

And when I say it can go in both directions I am referring to the idea that somebody can completely elevate the energy in a positive way instantaneously, and an individual can also be a complete third in the punch bowl energetically instant instantaneously as well.

If we’ve all experienced this, and we know it to be true why don’t we talk about energy in our own energy more often?

Why aren’t we considering how we introduce ourselves energetically as being the ultimate calling card or business card and that we need to cultivate a beautiful introductory energy for ourselves whenever possible.

Let’s peel that onion a little bit.

That person that walks into the conference room as the last person to arrive, the ultimate economic decision maker on the decision team from a hierarchical perspective or a P&L responsibility perspective, and the entire energy changes on the rest of the team.

I’ve seen groups of business leaders see their individual leader walk in and they all sit up straighter and puff up their chest, feel proud, and start smiling and you could see that there is genuine human to human admiration here and that this goes far beyond a business relationship. This is an example when people are being led by someone who is Real and authentic/vulnerable, effective and admired in the process.

We have all seen other situations where a leader walks into the room and all conversations stop body-language becomes rigid and tension immediately escalates in the air. There are no warm, casual greetings, only formal addresses and the temperature drops precipitously instantaneously.

This is a leader that is obviously managing through some form of intimidation hierarchy, chain of command, fear, and intimidation, or other less collaborative less kind approaches to business leadership.

That shit is tired and played out.

Obviously, in more traditional businesses and manufacturing settings and other things, these types of geometric arrangements and extensive middle management are still common however, when you’re interacting in meetings and other business situations, the antiquated nature of these arrangements become evident when you experience leaders that are not comfortable in their own skin and are not connected to their higher-self while Exercising their responsibilities as leaders in their organization.

This is a real conversation to have, what exactly is the way to teach future leaders how to be authentic when they become executives or managers of lots of people?

The very word- “authentic” means that there can’t be a recipe that everyone can follow other than connecting to the moment of now through breath and stillness so that you can listen to the messages of your higher-0self and intuition which will provide you solid authentic answers in your quest to become a leader.

au·then·tic

/ôˈTHen(t)ik/

adjective

  1. 1.

of undisputed origin; genuine

“the letter is now accepted as an authentic document”

Pointing to org chart and showing that you are above someone else, and that is why they need to listen to you may get someone to follow instructions for a brief period of time but will not be sustainable nor will it be enjoyable for anyone yourself included.

According to the players and the people involved on the team here at this hockey game, when this kid started to get shown on the Jumbotron with his joy and smile, and the crowd started to get engaged, it changed the energy of the team and even the effort with which they were skating on the ice at that moment.

Here is a four-year-old kid who had never been to a hockey game, minding his own business and gets picked out of the crowd by a cameraman and becomes the MVP at the game, brought back to the locker room and celebrated as a hero.

How was he a hero?

By keeping it real and sharing his energy and love in his heart.

He won the game for the team.

Yes, chaos theory and the butterfly effect are real, but they’re often misunderstood. Chaos theory describes the behavior of complex, deterministic systems that are highly sensitive to initial conditions, meaning small changes can lead to dramatically different outcomes. The butterfly effect, a concept within chaos theory, illustrates this sensitivity, suggesting that an insignificant event can have far-reaching consequences.

Here’s a more detailed explanation:

Chaos Theory:

Deterministic, but unpredictable:

Chaos theory deals with systems that follow deterministic rules, meaning their behavior is determined by initial conditions. However, due to their sensitivity to these conditions, they can be highly unpredictable in the long term.

Sensitive Dependence on Initial Conditions (SDIC):

This is the core principle of chaos theory, stating that small differences in starting conditions can lead to vastly different outcomes over time.

Examples:

Weather patterns, stock market fluctuations, and even the behavior of a dripping faucet can be considered chaotic systems.

The Butterfly Effect:

A metaphor, not a literal cause:

The butterfly effect is a metaphor to illustrate SDIC. While a butterfly flapping its wings might not cause a hurricane, it does represent the idea that a small, seemingly insignificant event in a complex system can have disproportionate effects over time.

Amplification of initial conditions:

The butterfly effect highlights how small changes can be amplified through a system’s internal feedback loops, leading to significant changes in the long run.

Real-world implications:

Understanding the butterfly effect helps us appreciate the interconnectedness of complex systems and the potential impact of seemingly small actions.

Important distinctions:

Not a literal butterfly:

The butterfly in the metaphor is not meant to be taken literally. It’s a visual aid to represent the idea of a small, insignificant change.

Not about all systems:

Chaos theory and the butterfly effect don’t apply to all systems. Many systems are predictable and stable.

Not about predicting the future perfectly:

Chaos theory doesn’t mean we can’t make any predictions about the future. It simply means that long-term predictions become increasingly difficult due to the system’s sensitivity to initial conditions.

In conclusion, while the specific scenario of a butterfly causing a hurricane is a simplification, the underlying principle of the butterfly effect, as described by chaos theory, is a real and significant aspect of how complex systems behave.

We don’t need to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders and the process of elevating others, however, walking into a room and looking at the thermostat to see what the temperature is and then changing your temperature to match it is no way to live.

We want to BE the thermostat and change the temperature if necessary by being comfortable, sharing the love in our heart, knowing there’s always more where that came from and that we have nothing to be afraid of.

We don’t have to say what we’re doing, but a knowing smile and calm energy goes an awfully long way in any situation.

What do we want to be our calling card and how do we want our energy to introduce ourselves when we meet new people or walk into the room?

Our vibe will be felt way before we reach into our pocket for a business card and a simple mantra when you’re going into these situations to remind yourself to stay connected to your own breath and that you will lead with love, for example is all you need to do.

“ I am here now breathing and I am sharing the absolute best that I have today”

This is a wonderful thing to think about as you go into a business mixer, a networking event, a tradeshow a busy day at the office or headed off to school or even the Farmers Market.

There is an ever-abundant supply of positive energy and love available to us if we tap into it.

If you need help, let me know. I can help you.

We’re going to have a classic Masters Sunday today and we all know that the kid from Northern Ireland will complete the grand slam even though there’s a charging Bull named Bryson coming in after him….. you must believe that the luck of the Irish will finally pay off. But we’ll see……

And I’ll be watching with my attitude of gratitude.
