What is the measurement that we use to understand other people‘s life choices and decisions?
What do their Parents think?
Does that even matter?
Is it possible for us to make a snap decision on how someone is doing in their life by simply looking at them at any given moment in time.
In other words, can we use a single frame snapshot or a photo to understand someone’s life or do we truly need to view the entire movie from the beginning to understand how and why that person got to where they are?
Obviously, the latter, a life taken in context relative to the continuum of the experience is truly the only way to have an informed perspective on someone else’s life, even though we could never utterly understand it.
What is the scorecard? Seriously!
While we’re at it, what is YOUR scorecard, dear person reading this?
Is your scorecard based upon material accumulation or certain social positions in your community?
Does your sense of self come from your performance in your job?
In other words, if you were doing great at work and performing well and getting great evaluations does that mean you’re doing well in your life?
I’m just asking so you are clear on how you are evaluating how you are doing.
Yes, pursuing your dreams can be beneficial for your physical health as it can significantly improve your mental well-being by reducing stress, boosting self-esteem, and providing a sense of purpose, which can indirectly lead to better physical health outcomes; additionally, the process of working towards your goals often involves learning new skills and staying active, further contributing to positive physical health.
Key points about how pursuing your dreams can benefit physical health:
Stress reduction:
Engaging in activities you love and working towards goals can significantly decrease stress levels, which can positively impact your physical health by lowering blood pressure and reducing the risk of stress-related illnesses.
Increased motivation and activity:
When passionate about a goal, you are more likely to be active and engaged in pursuing it, which can lead to increased physical activity and improved overall fitness.
Positive mindset:
Achieving goals and working towards dreams can boost self-esteem and confidence, leading to a more positive outlook on life, which can positively impact your overall health.
Cognitive stimulation:
The process of learning new skills and problem-solving while pursuing your dreams can keep your brain active and potentially delay age-related cognitive decline.
Important considerations:
Balance is key:
While pursuing your dreams is beneficial, it’s important to maintain a healthy balance and not let your pursuit become overly stressful or consume your life.
Realistic goals:
Setting attainable goals is crucial to avoid disappointment and maintain motivation.
Seek support:
If your dream requires significant lifestyle changes, consult with professionals or supportive individuals to navigate the process effectively.
“I just knew this was what I would do with my Architecture degree!” said the Happy Man with his Dancing Marionette.
This is no different than me working in Coaching and Consulting in Technology after studying Latin American Studies!! Claro que si!!
Let’s simplify things and just look at the three Hs, not four, but 3, so a little bit different than the 4H club that is very popular in rural communities here in the United States.
The 3Hs I am referring to stand for; Heart, Health, and Head.
Heart: Am I allowing myself to feel all my emotions and to process all my past life experiences so that I can integrate those and except everything that I have gone through in my life for just what it is. Am I practicing self-care regularly as a daily and consistent expression of self-love? Am I open to receiving love and appreciation from others as another form of acceptance and self-love?
Health: Am I being honest and real with myself about how I am taking care of my physical body and organism? I am looking closely for signs and indications of how I am doing and taking basic care of myself relative to diet exercise weighing myself periodically drinking lots of water stretching and taking care of my temple in general.
Head: Am I being consistent in my meditation and morning routine? This means that my nighttime routine must also be very consistent so that I have the greatest mental clarity and focus when I wake up and I can hit the ground running. Am I expanding my learning and pushing myself to grow through consuming new and different information reading recommended books and writing daily?
These are my 3H check boxes that I am constantly aware of and that are part of my consistent daily practices that allow me to be the best version of myself for my friends, family, and all of you bad ass MoFos out there in Substack Reader World.
I do not pretend to have all the answers, however, I do have a complete willingness to share anything that is personally valuable and for some of you kids out there it just might be valuable for you.
Last “get shit done day” before the holidays. It feels like even though there are some business days between Christmas and New Year’s those are tough to get responses and activities done as everyone is either recovering or preparing for the next feast.
I’m planning to roast a goose on Christmas Eve, and I’ll keep you posted on my preparation and research going forward and if anyone has any tips or recommendations or recipes around cooking a goose, please get those over to me. So far Gordon Ramsay‘s recipe and steps for Roast Goose looks doable and folks have given the dish universal claim so that might be the direction I go.
Like everything in life, I always look for people smarter than me more experience than me so I could copy and replicate their ideas and practices and not be a jackass and be stubborn like I used to be.
There are so many smart people out there, so I decided “why try to figure everything out by yourself?”.
I think the smartest thing is to beg, borrow, and steal great ideas and practices from other people and simply use them to create your own quilt of ideas for your practice as you go forward.
TGIF peeps shine brightly your attitude of gratitude.
