Morning Meditation from The GratiDude
As a kid born in 1968 outside of Detroit, whose father was born in Detroit, even if you weren’t into cars very much you were still more into cars than most human beings will ever be.
There was so much employment that came out of the automobile industry in Southeastern Detroit, and Northern Ohio, that the culture of the automobile was prevalent and never far away in conversation.
When you have an industry as large as the automotive industry, the number of satellite businesses and supply chain entities that must exist in order to consistently produce the volume of vehicles that were being pumped out in the 50s 60s and 70s out of Detroit it was an all hands on deck time for Labor.
My first car was a Ford Mustang, albeit one of the most laughable weird model mustangs ever created. Mine was the 1976 Mustang cobra two with a tiny engine, a weird body, and in my case, multiple holes in the floorboards from accumulated rust.
But it was mine for $600 cash, and it was a glorious four speed manual transmission, and I loved it. I filled it with second hand stereo equipment until the rearview mirror shook like jello, and it was the first car I drove to school and DJed parties with.

Same colors and stripes, however mine was 30% brown on all bottoms from rust BABY!
I couldn’t fit both my speakers in the car however I could fit my record crates Turntables mixer and a bunch of other crap that I needed, but the speakers had to find another way there. Real shit back in the day of being an entrepreneur with no budget but big dreams.
Sounds remarkably familiar 40 years later!!
My dear brother, Sean, Irish Twin 11.5 months older than me, had a real Mustang.
A jaw dropping holy shit what year is that question Mustang?
A sixty-eight fastback with a Hurst shifter and a 302 engine, giant FAT tires on the back that under their own volition, accidentally grabbed rubber in all four gears without even trying.
I was such a young lunatic that my brother only let me drive it a couple of times and very sparingly and no more than a few miles. It was the only car that he was ever super stingy with letting me drive his 68 Camaro convertible. He was also strict with this one as well, chocolate brown, niiiiice!
I love this video for 1 million reasons and one thing to remember is that it’s almost surprising that this happened the way it did because in America there are many old white women that watch too much of the news and might not even respond to a young black man talking to them at the gas station. Real talk, thanks CNN and FOX.
Depending on the part of the country that you are in this video could never even be considered because an older white woman would never engage and hang out, like Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart do. It would be socially uncomfortable or unusual at the least, which would be a sad situation to miss, as this videographer makes the most incredible car videos.
I’m not trying to be negative or bring up an issue that’s difficult to talk about, but this is America and we have a very unique history and I love to celebrate when I see unity like this and people not taking the bait of racism and following the programming of fear.
According to Unity teachings, yes, overcoming fear is often seen as a necessary step to fully experience unity, as fear can create separation and division, while letting go of fear allows for a greater connection to oneself and others, fostering a sense of shared humanity and belonging.
Key points to consider:
Fear as a barrier:
Fear can create walls between individuals, preventing them from fully connecting and experiencing unity with others.
Inner work:
Overcoming fear often involves personal introspection and spiritual practices to address underlying anxieties and limiting beliefs.
Community support:
Unity principles encourage support in a community where individuals can share their struggles and help each other overcome fear.
This beautiful video should be a testament to love and unity in the community as well as a celebration of American horsepower, and good old-fashioned Detroit muscle.
Don’t race this Queen for pink slips.
“69. Best year Ever”.
When I was over in West Palm the other day visiting my boy G Money and my new homeboy Teddy Bear, I stumbled onto a 1972 Lemans that was candy apple green with big fat wheels and in pristine condition parked in a carport near the house I stayed in. It’s funny because it immediately made me think about who I knew growing up who had a Le Mans and the fact that you don’t see many of those over in Sarasota and they’re cool muscle cars that have a great shape.

Simple, clean, classic. The LeMans.
Both the video of the woman with the Camaro and me, noticing the LeMans are ONLY possible through present moment awareness and staying connected to our breath.
NOW: Where YOUR life waits for YOU.
Our life and experience await patiently for us, right here in the now, so when we can shift(see what I did there?) our thoughts away from future or past thoughts and come right back to the present, we can feel the horsepower of the engine and the rumble underneath us moving us forward in time and space powered by the engine that is our attitude of gratitude.
