Morning Meditation from The GratiDude

My trademark attorney and I had a meeting in call yesterday about some of the categories for my global trademark of the GratiDude. I’m sure many of you already know this, but for me it was new and a cool process to learn about because your trademark needs to be specific to a particular category of business or of industry. For me, my categories are education, training, coaching, personal development consulting, and for now I had to peel back the application that included a podcast or a broadcast element.

The reason I bring this up is that my attorney was telling me how she notices a significant difference in her sons play and behavior on the days that he does not meditate before one of his junior golf competitions.

Her son is an elite junior golfer in his mid-late teens going through the college recruitment process now and with aspirations and potential for a professional career on some level.

Her son is no different than any of us in that anytime we stray from a productive healthy morning routine we will feel it for the entire day until we go to sleep, whether we realize it or not.

There are no great athletes or champions that start their days in a random way or leave to happenstance how they will introduce their heart minds and bodies to a new opportunity to be a part of the living family with another day of life, gifted to them.

As I talk about and teach regularly, the most destructive thing for your morning is to accept whatever message is on your phone as being your most important priority to start your day with and creating an initial thought of anxiety and one of a lack of control. It is the worst thing you can do in the morning first thing is to look at your phone and just take whatever it gives you and eat that shit sandwich and say like a young Kevin Bacon, “thank you sir, may I have another?”.

Yes, a consistent morning routine can be important for your health, as it can help reduce stress, boost energy levels, improve productivity, and set a positive tone for the day, contributing to both mental and physical well-being; however, the key is to create a routine that fits your individual needs and lifestyle.

Key points about a morning routine and health:

Stress reduction:

A predictable routine can help manage anxiety by reducing the need to make constant decisions about daily activities.

Improved focus and productivity:

Starting the day with focused activities can enhance your mental clarity and ability to tackle tasks efficiently.

Better sleep patterns:

A consistent wake-up time can contribute to a more regular sleep cycle.

Healthy habits:

Incorporating activities like exercise, hydration, and meditation into your morning routine can promote overall health.

I have never met or heard of anyone who practiced a morning routine and then decided that they would be healthier or better off if they went back to no routine at all and grabbed their phone.

Nobody has ever switched back because they felt healthier by abandoning a morning routine. What that tells you is that once you get over the hump of creating the habit and building the consistency into your day of a healthy morning routine, even if it’s five or 10 minutes long, you will never go away from it for the rest of your life.

How could you not want to try something that would be that sticky from a health perspective if you haven’t tried it already?

Our next coaching series in February with TypeCoach and my squad and collective of brilliant Sherpa’s from the Grateful4.org ( www.grateful4.org ) will do just that for you and literally Brick by Brick. We are going to help you build a morning routine along with the understanding as deep as you want to go of the science health and wellness benefits associated with each of the practices we will introduce to you.

You will build your program of self-talk, breath work and connecting to something bigger than you with a sprinkle of gratitude in whatever way you decide to do it, however is most effective for you.

The information we will provide around the health benefits of the various practices will be enlightening.

If you haven’t learned about all the differences between things like mouth vs. nose breathing, a simple explanation of your different nervous systems and how different types of thoughts create different emotional and physical reactions.

We will lift the lid off of the mystery of why you feel and think the way you feel and think.

We want you to slide over to the driver seat and grab the wheel and realize that you have a hell of a lot more control over your life experience in reality then perhaps you’ve given yourself credit for.

It’s never a finished product either as I will attest to.

I recently added somatic movement and some funky, jumping around and wiggling my body before I meditate in the morning. I just trusted it at the recommendation of a few people even though it looks completely ridiculous and when I show you this, it looks like I’m having some sort of conniption or something or doing some sort of crazy new dance that could only be done to some very fast music.

It feels good and it gets my energy flowing in a unique way in the morning so I’m going to keep doing it for as long as it continues to be productive for me and continues to feel good.

I’m the boss and the curator of my morning program and I can do anything I want with it and adjust it on the fly if need be.

Please understand I’m sharing these things because I want to give you all of the best things that I have found so you don’t have to go fumbling in the dark or using your Google machine to figure out how to do breath work in the morning.

We are going to show you and have experts help explain the process to you and also what the health benefits are in as much detail as you would care to go into.

Are you picking up what I am laying down?

The new year will be here in no time so let’s really focus on getting ourselves ready to have the best year of our lives by finishing 2024 with as much abundant thinking and optimism as we can muster.

My hand is extended if I can be of help, you know how to get a hold of me and grab a hold of your own Friday attitude of gratitude.
