Morning Meditation from The GratiDude

It’s a valid question that only you can answer.

Why are you here?

You may answer it at whatever depth you feel like swimming to, depending on your tolerance for cold water and whether or not you can hold your breath long enough to get deep.

Why are you here this morning reading this post?

Or, more substantially, why are you here as a spirit in this life experience?

What is it?

You are either supposed to remember or learn in this journey as you co-create your experience today and every day, together,  with something bigger than you or the source of nature, light, love, energy and life.

For me quite simply, I aspire to manifest in my behavior and life, loving awareness.

That’s it.

I am at my very essence in the center of my spirit, loving awareness.

And for me, it becomes a balancing act of how to operate in a material world as an expanding spirit with cosmic energy and an increasing awareness of the beauty that surrounds me at all times.

And this is my journey and MY learning experience, and my remembering experience is to navigate these personally uncharted waters of being a light spirit in a material construct in the form of my human body.

Through Yoga and meditation about six years ago, this awareness of my purpose and my calling of being something bigger than what I was living every day started to not at me much like the pea under the mattress of the Princess in the fairytale “Princess and the Pea”.

It is proof that God in the universe have a tremendous sense of humor.

I was shown a vision of what my marriage and family would look like if I proceeded on an ongoing path of consistent self-destruction through alcohol, poor decision-making, and poor health results as well.

God wasn’t going to spoil the secret that the mother of my children, at least at that time, was far more comfortable with a consistently intoxicated version of me that only dipped into the deep end of the pool here and there, but was also OK being a drunk and floating in the shallow end of the pool in a self-serving ego way.

Little did, I know that my sobriety would literally lead to the demise of my marriage relationship with the mother of my children, but that it was my path and the only way I can move forward and heal and save myself from myself and forgive myself for all of the things that I had never done.

Yes, love can be highly inspirational, as it can motivate people to be better versions of themselves, pursue personal growth, and create art or engage in activities they might not otherwise consider, acting as a powerful driving force for positive change in one’s life.

Key points about love as inspiration:

Positive emotions:

Falling in love often triggers a release of dopamine, leading to feelings of happiness and euphoria which can inspire creativity and motivation.

Desire to impress:

When loving someone, individuals may be motivated to improve themselves to be worthy of their partner’s affection.

Support and encouragement:

A loving relationship can provide a supportive environment where partners encourage each other to achieve their goals.

Creative expression:

Love is a common theme in art, music, and literature, inspiring people to express their emotions through creative endeavors

I had to quit drinking.

Once you turn the corner and have that clarity you end up just like this old man getting out of bed with the picture of his granddaughter close by so he could stay inspired to lift her up on Christmas Eve and put the star on top of the Christmas tree.

This is why gratitude is so powerful to not motivate, but to inspire way beyond simple motivation, real change in your thinking and subsequent behaviors.

When you are able to clearly isolate the people and the things in your life that matter the most to you and to your higher self, you can then use those people and things as the motivation to improve your self-care and self-love so that you can enjoy longevity and more time to experience those people and things.

The cliché sense is knowing your “why”, and that is always the things that you are most thankful and appreciative about in your life.

If you are having trouble creating consistent and long lasting changes in your behavior, try focusing instead on gratitude and building that practice so that the things that are truly important to you become more salient and front and center in your day-to-day life from a thought and a mentality perspective.

This will put the love and concern for those people and things in your heart and into your subconscious, and you’re awareness will look for ways to improve your behavior in order to manifest those changes that are needed or required to improve your situation, your thoughts, and your behaviors and moods.

It really is an inside job however you’ve got to get back to the present moment and let go of anxiety thoughts of past and future, in order to think clearly and to practice gratitude.  Let those people,  things,  enjoyable experiences, fond memories, and  all the good stuff that you have or have experienced,  let THOSE THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS  be like the dog biscuit treat that you get for coming back into the moment and practicing gratitude.

Reward yourself with good thoughts. WOOF!

And that is an attitude of gratitude.
