Morning Meditation from The GratiDude
It’s not always the advice that my friends or family might want in the moment, but it is my best and most truthful recommendation of how to get unstuck from an unproductive thought loop.
An unproductive thought loop usually becomes what is referred to as a mood, a voluntary entrance into a focused state of negativity that can only exist within an ego structure of the capital “I” mixed up with some sort of need to either be right, or to have felt wronged, or to enjoy some sort of daily dose of indignation, perhaps.
In any case, when you have such a predicament in your melon, right between the ears and in the center of your chest, the best thing to do is to immediately grab a can of GOYA.
This GOYA however, as you know if you have been a reader of mine, stands for GET OFF YOUR ASS and by get off your ass, I mean, literally get up move go outside and find the first person that you can offer some sort of help to.
It does not matter what the act is, the energetic, intention and execution of helping another human being in real time.
It can simply be opening a door for someone, picking up a small piece of trash, at a stranger, anything at all that is energy contributed in the direction of someone else without a quid pro quo energy.
This may be a difficult concept to grasp, but you are performing an active self-love by finding a way to perform kindness to others. I will explain this a bit to make sure you understand what I mean.
What I mean is that you are NOT serving yourself or anyone else when you are unable to evacuate from a negative thought loop or from future thoughts of anxiety or thoughts of regret.
At that point, you must pull the ripcord and get out of that doomed airplane in your calm parachute using your breath to do something different, and by doing a hard reboot of activating your body is a physical way to interrupt the pattern. It is a sure fire thought pattern interrupt.
Furthermore, the required energy and focus in the moment of helping someone forces you to create new and different thoughts that help you get back into the flow of the interconnectedness and the unity that is fundamental to reality.
I love the Maple Leaf’s fan with Stage 4 Throat Cancer here who says two things that are just simply the greatest when he says “ that God’s going to help me a lot more because I’m helping you” and when he realizes he’s going to the hockey game, the first thing he asked after he shouts his ass off in the Hardware store, yelling mind you with his stage for lung cancer, he asks excitedly:
“Can I bring my bell?”.
Oh My God yes Lad, bring your bell buddy, I love you so and you are so beautiful.
I can’t wait to hear your bell!!!
At that point, I fell in love with this goofy skinny Canadian guy because anybody that gets invited to a huge sporting event and all they can think about is bringing their prized good luck sound making bell is someone of my heart and authentic beautiful spirit that should be celebrated.
Ring that damn bell as loud as you can, my brother!
Yes, gratitude can help your immune system:
White blood cell count: A study from the University of Utah found that people who practice gratitude have higher white blood cell counts, which can help your body fight off illness.
Stress reduction: Gratitude can help calm your nervous system, which can lower your blood pressure, heart rate, and breathing.
Improved sleep, mood, and overall well-being: Gratitude can improve your sleep, mood, and overall well-being.
Reduced depression and anxiety: Gratitude can decrease depression and anxiety.
Reduced chronic pain and disease: Gratitude can decrease chronic pain and the risk of disease.
Improved cardiovascular health: Gratitude can improve your cardiovascular health.
Longer life spans: Gratitude can be linked to longer life spans.
Some ways to practice gratitude include:
Writing down gratitude before bed, sharing gratitude around the dinner table, Marveling at your body’s finely tuned machinery, savoring a delicious meal, and thinking back on an awesome moment, being thankful The GratiDude writes you love notes every morning, etc.
Think about your greatest experiences in your life, and they always entail other people and they are never solo acts because the solo act no matter how great it never gets any applause at the end.
We are social creatures and separation is an illusion that is carried out through the perceptions of our bodies and the limitations of our senses. That doesn’t make that shit real, that just makes our senses very limited and the opportunity for learning and growth all the more vast.*
*(our optic nerves, for example, are limited compared to other animals…..What types of light can humans not see?
We see our world in a huge variety of color. However, there are other “colors” that our eyes can’t see, beyond red and violet, they are: infrared and ultraviolet. Comparing these pictures, taken in these three “types of light”, the rainbow appears to extend far beyond the visible light..)
When I write stuff and recommendations like getting off your ass and getting out and helping somebody when you’re not feeling good, I hope you know that this is proven through my own practice, and I never asked anybody to do anything that I wouldn’t be willing to do or that, I haven’t done myself.
To be clear, that’s why I was successful in leading sales teams and organizations because I didn’t ask people to run through a brick wall. I ran through the fucking brick wall first.
Ask somebody if you don’t believe me.
I’m an old school leader I walked to talk. I say what I mean and I mean what I say..
I make mistakes I learn from them and that’s gratitude.
DISCLAIMER- If you experience any tingling sensations, “oh, wow” moments, or even tears when you read my daily meditation, please don’t ever for a moment think that KC deserves the credit. HA! No way OJ.
Anything great that comes from Kevin Arthur Carpenter always comes and ALWAYS HAS come from something MUCH BIGGER than me. I am merely one of many chosen Delivery Mechanisms given a gift of communication and connecting. I have these gifts NOT to just make money, but to pass through the love of the Universe to those having trouble receiving the signal.
I’m a Delivery Driver known as The GratiDude, that’s all.
And, you would never think of giving credit for the taste of pizza to the kid that dropped it off at your door. He didn’t cook it.
You don’t give credit for the quality of the ingredients to the delivery boy. That goes to the pizza Chef, in other words that goes to the Universe and to God, the Source of all love, energy, light, life, and pizza for that matter.
Thanks and praises for my 30 year friendship with my brother Gavinator, who is visiting from Colorado and seems to have brought the frigid-ass temperatures to Florida on that Southwest Airlines flight into SRQ. Ha ha, all good! So great to have him in my Bachelor Bungalow By The Bay.
We’re coming into OUR SEASON everybody, because if you’re reading this right now, you are a leader in your family, your business, your organization, and your community with your mindset of abundance and growth and what we call in a general sense, living a life of gratitude.
It is critical that we share with our friends and family as we congregate during the season on the ways that they too, can weave this spirit of gratitude and appreciation into a year round way of life so that they can feel more happiness and contentment year-round and not just during Thanksgiving.
We owe it to our community to share the knowledge and the wisdom that we’re all learning from each other in our process of growth.
Profound knowledge needs to be shared in the community and spread to all the edges. Just like peanut butter on bread.
Spread your peanut butter this weekend for me, and I prefer extra crunchy with an attitude of gratitude.
