Morning Meditation from The GratiDude
I’ve come to realize that there is always another summit.
Even if your ego tells you that you are at the top, it isn’t true. You should never think you may have reached the top because the journey of life doesn’t end until we take our last breath.
The notion of getting to a point in life and simply coasting or believing that there is not anything more to learn would be a tragic place to end up while you are still alive. Especially as you dive into new subjects and realize that you can stand every single day, learning, researching, listening, and taking information and still only be able to become a subject matter expert and one or two things.
It’s so humbling and simultaneously exciting at the same time because there is always a growth and learning opportunity like Christmas for your mind, spirit, and soul every single day.
You receive another kiss on the forehead from creation and you get a ticket to ride on the roller coaster known as the human experience.
I’ve been having some fun and interesting conversations with myself around fear of Not so much failure, but really rejection. I think on an emotional level, if my coaching programs that I’ve developed with all my Super Sherpa partners don’t takeoff quickly within the system of leadership of the golf and resort business.
I realize in large part it’s because I have put so much time and energy into making this transition and also that I am very excited to begin this next chapter of providing valuable service in the form of helping groups and individuals become more content with their life and able to pursue more of their own personal greatness.
I am finding that the best way for me to overcome fear is to envision and picture. The people that I have helped thus far and the infinite number of people that could be helped as I exposed them to all my brilliant leaders and partners like Cristina The Corporate Yogi, Dr. Tracy Gapin the Men’s Health Greatness Whisperer, Rob Toomey TypeCoach Guru, Nicole Keating Morning Routine Uber Expert and Intuitive Healer, Dr. LJ Rose the OG of Guided Hypnosis and Meditation, Chief Matriarch of the Natural Wellness Academy, Connected Golfer Ms. connected and many other Super Sherpas. I also like the picture myself as a kind of wellness Sergeant pepper leading a band of healers and teachers to help uplift the students that are ready to save themselves from themselves.
And at the end of the day, that’s my message to myself is that when the student is ready, the teacher will always appear. my job now over the next six weeks or so is to find the very clear ways to communicate the value proposition of beginning daily practices around a morning routine around understanding how the breath mind and body come together, understanding, high performance strategies, and coaching for elite athletes and executives, as well as simply investing daily in the neuroscience, practice of gratitude and appreciation. I know the value of these things however, the ability to articulate and communicate this value is what I need to focus on and become a master at.
As I was explaining to my new bro Chad, the other day there is only one list of authors published every week in the New York Times. It is not called “The New York Times Best Writer List” but instead it is called the “Best Seller” list.
This means that you could in theory be the best writer and the worst seller and you would never make this list.
The same goes for coaching. My crew could be the greatest All-Star team ever assembled, but if our sales and marketing is equivalent to the bad news bears, we will never get the executives of Heritage, Arcis, Discovery, and all the others to understand the thousand X return on capital they will receive by investing in their most precious resource: their human capital.
The good news is, I can do hard things, just like this Dodger fan below.
The other good news is, I have a core group of supporters that understand and support my personal mission and obvious commitment to helping others and sharing the secrets of neuroscience and the magic of gratitude.
It is natural to be afraid, but we must work to keep fear for what it is for: keeping us safe.
Fear is NOT there to limit dreams, but obviously the anxiety that comes with fear is limiting.
Yes, fear can limit people’s dreams by causing anxiety and creating obstacles that prevent people from acting. Fear can also cause people to lose passion and focus on safety instead of pursuing their dreams.
Here are some tips to help overcome fear and achieve your dreams:
Focus on the positive
Instead of focusing on what could go wrong, focus on the positive things that could happen if you achieve your dream.
Set personal goals
Focus on being the best version of yourself, rather than trying to be better than someone else.
Act
Believe in yourself and act towards your goals.
Practice deep breathing
Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth, focusing on relaxing each part of your body.
Fear can also affect dreams themselves:
Stress and nightmares
High stress levels can cause more REM sleep, which leads to more dreams or nightmares.
Anxiety dreams
Fear or stress can cause anxiety dreams. Other causes include recent life changes or traumatic events
When we share the best that we have with others, we’re allowing ourselves to let go of the fear of rejection, and to also celebrate our own unique gifts that were given to us by the source of all light energy and life. With the mindset of personal growth and then envisioning yourself as if you’re harvesting fruits from this experience to feed and nurture the friends and family and people you love.
This means that even if you can’t motivate yourself to work on yourself or yourself, you can motivate yourself to work on yourself for the sake of the other people around you.
Whatever gets you up 10 minutes earlier every day to take some deep breaths and to say thank you and plan how you were going to make the most of your life experience before you jump into the starting gate is what you need to use to motivate yourself to make it happen.
If somebody told you were going to only have one more day to live, you would do absolutely everything you could to make the most of it.
If you’re going to live another 30 years, the simple act of getting up 10 minutes earlier would give you not just one full day of extra life, but 75 days of life or the equivalent to an entire summer.
And you’re telling me you can’t get your ass up 10 minutes earlier to have an extra summer life before you die?
What the fu(% is wrong with you?
Get up!
This is not the dress rehearsal life. This is the real life and you have all the tools and opportunities inside and around you to do wonderful things and feel great in the process.
If you’re having trouble feeling great, I can tell you definitively that it starts with reconnecting to breath and leveraging the tools of smart people that are willing and ready to help you.
You will not find anyone on LinkedIn or anywhere else that will say that the gratitude refused to help me when I reached out and asked for help. It won’t happen, try me.
In the meantime, just be easy on yourself and realize that we are all doing the best we can, and we are here to walk each other home with an attitude of gratitude.
