Morning Meditation from The GratiDude

Wouldn’t it be cool if there was some sort of measuring device that could reveal the impact of not talking about your true feelings?  Almost like a PSI air gauge used for checking the air pressure of a tire we could hook something up to your ear and take a quick snapshot of how much accumulated pain suffering and trauma you were holding onto create invisible, emotional, and mental pressure inside your human vehicle.

I suppose if we were spoken to as young people, and it was explained to us how our feelings and emotions impact on our health and wellness and the need to explore and talk about our feelings to stay healthy, we might not be in the situation that we’re all in.

It was so humbling for me personally after spending years meditating every day, digging deep into all my self-work, to go into marriage counseling and have the therapist reveal a major Blindspot within the first half hour of our session.

Bruce, the therapist asked me: “Whoa Kev, who are you so mad at bro?”

Really good question Bruce.

And so began and extremely informative and revealing series of therapy sessions that were supposed to be marriage counseling but just turned into the Kevin Carpenter and GratiDude “release of  trauma and exploratory sessions.”

The mother of my kids was not ready for therapy, this was more my doing and cup of tea, and She didn’t share anything new or revelatory.  It was not her fault that she was not willing to participate in therapy and digging up her past emotional landscape, everything is timing.

I decided, however,  that I would take advantage of the opportunity and the investment to go all in on peeling my skull back and opening my heart.

Become more humble and more grounded in the present moment of now I realize how critical it is for literally everyone to have some sort of outside person either as a coach or a therapist or some sort of teacher mentor that you can really be free to open up all of your feelings and thoughts with to make sure that you’re not holding onto something that could poison you from the inside out.

Not sharing your feelings and thoughts, also known as emotional suppression, can significantly impact your health, leading to increased stress, anxiety, depression, physical symptoms like muscle tension, digestive issues, and potentially even contributing to chronic health problems like heart disease due to the prolonged stress on your body from bottled-up emotions; essentially, suppressing emotions can harm both your mental and physical well-being.

Key negative impacts of not sharing your feelings:

Mental health issues:

Increased anxiety: Bottled-up emotions can manifest as anxiety, making it difficult to relax and manage stress effectively.

Depression: Chronic suppression of emotions can contribute to feelings of hopelessness and lead to depression.

Mood swings: Unprocessed emotions can lead to sudden outbursts of anger or sadness.

Physical health concerns:

Digestive problems: Stress from suppressed emotions can manifest stomach aches, nausea, and digestive issues.

Muscle tension: Holding onto emotions can lead to physical tension in the body, including headaches and muscle pain.

Sleep disturbances: Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep can be a result of unaddressed emotional stress.

Elevated blood pressure: Chronic stress from suppressed emotions can contribute to high blood pressure.

Weakened immune system: Long-term stress can negatively impact your immune system function, making you more susceptible to illness.

Why sharing your feelings is important:

Emotional release: Expressing your emotions allows you to process them and release the associated tension.

Improved relationships: Open communication about your feelings can strengthen bonds with others.

Self-awareness: Reflecting on and sharing your emotions helps you understand yourself better and your needs

Another thing I have found helpful is to notice how certain behaviors impact your overall feeling of ease and flow regarding your emotional state.

The behavior that I’ve noticed that I need to be sensitive to is making sure I don’t censor or limit my emotional expression when I’m feeling a release or some sort of sadness or grief for something else starts to surface.

This sometimes happens during yoga or simply sitting in meditation, where I will feel tears welling up and the opportunity to let go of some pain in my past that I no longer need to hold onto, and that does not serve me.

Everyone needs a coach or therapist or both.

It’s a complicated world, and it is a constant practice to stay in touch with your higher self and getting outside people to provide another perspective is invaluable to maintain your personal growth and a state of wellness.

Because I have been so positively impacted by other people helping me and Coaching me,  I realize that this path is the most impactful profession and occupation I could choose to help all of us and our planet feel better and enjoy life more.

I’m not here to solve political dramas. I’m here to just help a few people learn to love themselves more and enjoy life a little bit more as we all walk each other home.

Got a big day of running around all over excited to go visit a new golf club being built here near Sarasota as that’s always fun to see dreams pop out of the ground in the form of a golf course, and its huge collective effort. It’s fun to be around and be a part of.

And today I am going to look for the person in the Cafeteria eating lunch by themselves, figuratively speaking,  and go sit next to them because that’s how you share the love in your heart and your attitude of gratitude.
