Morning Meditation from The GratiDude

The language that you utilize to describe experiences in your life reveals everything.  When your perspective of your life experiences is one of being a victim or of looking at every challenge or difficult situation as something that was thrust upon you that you didn’t deserve, you are missing out on the opportunity to learn and grow from the Lessons that are available in all difficult times.

Can you imagine getting the news that you were going to have your lower leg amputated and viewing that news not as a setback or as a traumatic life-changing event but instead a life-changing event that opens a world of adventure.

An amazing perspective, right?

It comes back to what one of my mentors Doctor LJ Rose will teach us in our coaching series when we learn about how the mind works and how so much of our operating system and belief system is formed before the age of twelve.

During this time, it is possible that we tell ourselves stories about our life that become the fact book in our mind for what our life is or was.

In short, life is not what happens to you, but instead life is the stories that you tell yourself.

For me personally I had and still have stories and feelings of rejection or OF not fully being loved for who I am from my father’s suicide when I was fifteen.  What’s fascinating? Is that when I look around with a wider lens I can see that there were so many people that his decision impacted that there’s no way that we could all take it personally as an act directed at us and I can see how illogical that is for me to have internalize so deeply for so many years.

I realize now that when severe trauma is in the mix, all rational thinking can come and go at a moment’s notice.  I was never been taught about “shadow work” or how our minds work, the power of meditation growing up, etc. The result was that many negative stories and harmful interpretations continued to mount in my mind and heart and those narratives became exceedingly difficult to untangle as I started to consume alcohol and try to bury all of the concerns and pain that kept bubbling up.

The term that is used in health and wellness circles is “integrating your life experiences and traumas “.  Integrating obviously is the keyword here and it really deserves exploration and some recognition for how profound the simple term is.

Little GratiDude says in short “ I lost my leg at age 2 and the ADVENTURE began!”

OMG, how incredible is He? I Love Him.

If you don’t integrate or accept the fact that you have these memories and experiences within your organism and system will poison and disrupt your functionality until you process them and better understand what role they will play in your life moving forward.

Yes, suffering can lead to personal growth:

Develops resilience: Suffering can help people become more resilient and better able to handle hardships.

Builds character: Suffering can help people develop character, skills, and determination.

Increases humility: People who have experienced hardship often have deeper levels of humility.

Promotes compassion: Suffering can help people develop compassion for others.

Creates new opportunities: Unwanted events can create new opportunities for learning and growth.

Builds self-worth: The right amount of pain and struggle can build self-worth and a sense of accomplishment.

Promotes problem-solving: Struggling can help people learn which strategies work and which don’t.

Creates a sense of purpose: Suffering can become a source of strength and purpose, motivating people to make changes in their lives.

To grow through suffering, people can try to:

Embrace the discomfort

Take breaks from the pain

Invite positivity into their lives

Practice patience, faith, and belonging to something beyond oneself

Growing up, many of us have been under the impression or led to believe that ignoring traumas or difficult memories is a way of coping with them and making them go away.

We know now that they never go away, and they just manifest in other ways in your body through unhealthy physical symptoms or unhealthy or toxic behaviors or emotions.

This is why everybody needs a coach or a therapist.

For Reals.

This is also the reason why I’m so committed to our coaching and bringing together all the powerful tools and brilliant individuals through the Grateful4 Org,  as we wish to share all of the practices available to everyone in order to give everyone the opportunity to find their own happiness and pursue their own form of personal greatness.
