Morning Meditation from The GratiDude
It’s a good concept to not make a daily intention too complicated or hard to execute during your day.
It’s nice to keep things simple sometimes.
For example, today, my attention is staying connected to breath and smiling and making eye contact with everyone I meet. I feel like this is a reachable goal for me today, however it isn’t easy, and it isn’t something that will happen without me being committed to staying present and following through on my intention today.
Sometimes less is more.
Sometimes a friend doesn’t need us to solve a problem or to have a deep conversation, but they just come by and visit for no reason and do not even say anything. This is a good approach to take with friends that are having a tough time and are feeling stuck is to just go and visit and let your energy get into the mix with them to help unstick them.
It’s an energetic variable that is also providing love and support without using words.
Another example where we’re doing less or doing a little thing can achieve big results is when you’re feeling depressed or sad and you are by yourself. That’s the time to activate your feet and head outside and literally just walk around your block and look for an activity that you could do for a person that you could help however small.
The example I use was months back when I was feeling really upset. I went out of my house down the street, and I literally grabbed the garbage cans from an older woman’s hands as she was bringing them on Monday afternoon garbage day and told her that I was going to be bringing these in for her today because I needed something productive to do.
Next thing you know we’re introducing ourselves to each other and then we become friends.
In my conversation with her that first day, she thanked me for bringing the garbage cans in and explained that she has some physical ailments that she’s been battling so a little help with the garbage cans was appreciated more than I had realized.
This conversation also allowed me to get out of my head and to recognize my own blessings that I had in terms of being physically healthy and fully able body, which is something we should never take for granted.
According to research and the concept of positive psychology, yes, performing small acts of kindness can positively change your own “frequency” by boosting your mood, increasing feelings of well-being, and releasing beneficial chemicals like oxytocin and dopamine, essentially creating a more positive internal state within you; essentially, doing good deeds can make you feel good about yourself, which can impact your overall outlook and energy level.
Key points about how small acts of kindness can change your frequency:
Positive emotions:
When you perform an act of kindness, you often experience positive emotions like happiness, gratitude, and satisfaction, which can uplift your mood and overall emotional state.
Social connection:
Acts of kindness can strengthen your connections with others, fostering a sense of belonging and community, which can also contribute to positive feelings.
Neurochemical response:
Studies have shown that performing kind acts triggers the release of neurotransmitters like oxytocin, often called the “love hormone,” which promotes feelings of well-being and reduces stress.
Self-esteem boost:
Engaging in kind acts can also positively impact your self-esteem by reinforcing a sense of doing good and making a positive difference
Don’t feel like it is big things that you need to do to create changing your life even walking around and picking up little pieces of trash on the street is really great for your energy and is productive for our community.
This Bro and His Squad are literally pregaming like: “OK, People are really sad, we MUST uplift them with this music and dancing. We can not worry how silly we look. as God wants us to uplift with our talents. Are we READY? YES!! Let’s go, hold my phone….”
Great for your energy and for the community. What more could you want?
We don’t need Excel spreadsheets or calculators to measure our impact.
We just need to have clarity and stay connected to our breath, so we recognize opportunities to contribute to our family or in our community and to help us not get wrapped up into our own thoughts.
