When we reserve all the GOOD STUFF for others, for ONLY commercial enterprises or for financial gain, we forget about the common good and the collective benefit that could happen from greater sharing in society.
You can’t look at society or the economy for the rewards for what you should be doing or what you want to be doing. In other words, not everything is quid pro quo, and in fact, the world would be a much more enjoyable place for most folks if we focused a bit more on “giving it away.”
What do I mean by that?
What I mean is that if we were ALL farmers and we took our crops in and we sorted our harvest by the quality of the product that we had grown into A, B, and C ratings in order of value. The categories with the highest quality and largest/best looking fruit would be your “A” Fruit, and your “C” Fruit would be your weakest and the smallest and ugliest looking fruit.
Conventional wisdom would tell us that we should sell all the “A” Fruit and give away a little bit of the “C” fruit that we can’t sell. “A” Fruit to the Market and “C” fruit for the local needy, poor, sick, and elderly. Let’s give our local Community the WORST stuff we have, the leftovers!! Great idea!! Wait a minute here….what’s going on??
I think that’s inherently wrong. It needs to be shook up.
Do we give away a little bit of A, B, and C apples and we also sell A, B and C apples mixed so that everyone shares the upside and the downside?
The key is that WE decide to do it, because the State or Government shouldn’t and has proven they couldn’t manage this properly.
What if we set aside our very best apples for the people that were suffering the most, the poor sick in the elderly, and we made it a priority to give them the very best fruit that we have and to sell everything else and simply make that work economically? Why is that wrong?
I’ve been involved with entrepreneurs and working independently and doing sales literally for over 40 years since I was in my early teens so I’m one of those people that understand why capitalism would win out because it is the system that allows greater creativity and expression as well as satisfying humans, natural desire to build Without restriction.
The Right team won.
However, as the winners in the global tug-of-war of economic systems in the 20th century, we need to be good winners voluntarily inject compassion into our activities during our business practices. If all our absolute best is JUST for our shareholders and investors and nothing left for our community, we will all lose in the end because that money is not going to stay in the community from those shareholders.
We must reinvest locally in with the best that we have for all our communities to grow and improve in the ways with which they are capable.
This requires creativity as you won’t find financial incentives unless you look hard, seek out collaboration, ask for help, and keep an open mind.
I’m sure this musician could make more money doing studio work and selling jingles and all the other ways that musicians monetize their talents in order to stay afloat in a difficult world however, here he is dedicated to serving others for a day with all of his expensive equipment out there just waiting for someone to show up so they can be uplifted by his musical talents. He gives them the BEST he has.
And it feels GREAT to share, and it may be GREAT for you!
Sharing with others can have many health benefits, including:
· Improved mental health: Helping others can reduce stress, improve mood, and boost self-esteem.
· Reduced risk of chronic disease: Social connections can help prevent serious illness and negative outcomes. Loneliness can increase the risk of heart disease and other chronic conditions.
· Better coping mechanisms: People who spend time with friends and family are more likely to use healthy ways to cope with stress.
· Longer lifespan: Studies show that people who volunteer tend to live longer than those who don’t.
· Improved cardiovascular health: Giving to others can lower blood pressure and protect your heart.
· Improved sense of purpose: People who feel supported by others tend to have a greater sense of purpose in life.
· Better diet: Families who eat home-cooked meals together tend to have a better diet.
· Improved fitness: Participating in outdoor activities like sports games, hikes, or gardening together can help improve fitness
What an incredible talent and super cool experience for both humans as they celebrate creativity, love, and unity with an attitude of gratitude.
