Morning Platitude from The GratiDude

You can usually tell by people’s reactions if you’re onto something in terms of dreaming big. If you’re down at the coffee shop and you explain your new dream to your friend while they’re taking a sip of coffee and they just sort of gently nod and say something polite like “oh that sounds cool”, that is a clear sign that your dream is rather pedestrian and average at best.

However, if you tell your dream to your Bro as they are taking a sip of their triple caramel Frappuccino and they spit whipped cream all over the table because what you’re telling them is so surprising and shocking, you are onto something.

When Walt Disney told his best friend that he wanted to buy a bunch of swamp land in the center of Florida, nowhere near any beaches and build a tourist destination around a mouse called Mickey his friend would’ve called him bat shit crazy.

Walt would’ve gone on and told him that he saw the perfect downtown to copy and bring to Orlando Florida and it’s the main street of Fort Collins Colorado with its quaint Western style storefronts and façades(true story).

At this point his Buddy would double down because he would realize that Walt had given this a great deal of thought, effort, and research and really call him fucking crazy.

“You’ve got a wonderful thing going here in California and we’re making a ton of money on these movies. Why in the hell would you risk the brand going to the swamps and retirement lands of Florida when we have everything we need here in California?” his buddy might’ve said.

Doing things the same old way, and the straightforward way quite frankly is boring and is safe and doesn’t allow you to express yourself from a creative standpoint in terms of what you wish to manifest as a co-creator of your reality during this short life experience.

Obviously, that was Jesse’s approach here with Banana Ball because if you would’ve seen this 10 years ago, you would have thought it was just something from a movie or something and couldn’t exist in real life.

You couldn’t sell out a major league stadium with 30 or 40,000 people to pay to see guys play baseball dancing and prancing around like it’s a Broadway show would you?

Not unless somebody was crazy like Walt Disney and became the Walt Disney of baseball.

Yes, working towards your dreams can be a healthy and fulfilling path, offering benefits like a sense of purpose, enhanced brain function, and increased happiness, but it’s important to approach it with a balanced perspective and realistic expectations.

Here’s a more detailed look at the potential benefits and considerations:

Benefits of Pursuing Dreams:

Sense of Purpose and Direction:

Aligning with your passions and dreams can give life a sense of purpose and direction, leading to greater satisfaction and motivation.

Enhanced Brain Health:

Pursuing dreams often involves learning new skills, problem-solving, and adapting to new situations, which can keep the brain active and agile, potentially delaying age-related cognitive decline.

Increased Happiness and Fulfillment:

Living authentically and pursuing your passions can lead to greater happiness and a sense of fulfillment, as you are actively working towards something meaningful to you.

Improved Mental Health:

Having goals and working towards them can boost self-esteem and reduce feelings of stagnation or boredom.

Personal Growth:

The journey of pursuing dreams often involves overcoming challenges and learning from experiences, leading to personal growth and resilience.

Enhanced Creativity and Innovation:

Pursuing your dreams can spark creativity and innovation as you find new ways to achieve your goals.

Considerations:

Realistic Expectations:

It’s important to have realistic expectations and understand that pursuing dreams can be challenging and may require significant effort and time.

Balance:

It’s crucial to maintain a healthy balance between pursuing your dreams and other important aspects of life, such as work, relationships, and personal well-being.

Flexibility:

Be open to changing your plans or goals as you learn and grow. Sometimes, the path to your dreams may not be a straight line.

Self-Care:

Don’t neglect your physical and mental health while pursuing your dreams. Make sure to prioritize self-care and take breaks when needed.

Don’t Be Afraid to Fail:

Failure is a natural part of the process of pursuing dreams. Learn from your mistakes and keep moving forward.

Find a Mentor or Support System:

Connect with people who can provide guidance and support as you pursue your dreams.

Don’t Compare Yourself to Others:

Everyone’s journey is unique. Focus on your own goals and progress, rather than comparing yourself to others.

As my buddy Rich Katz in the golf industry says, and I’m paraphrasing, “if it’s not new, different, and disruptive, why would I want to be a part of it?”

Good question, my buddy Ricardo.

And that’s our message today is what is something new indifferent that you can do today I think or experience?

This is the only day like today you’re ever going to have so is there something different that you might do today?

Could you brush your teeth with your left hand?

Maybe try food at lunch that you’ve never tried?

What about a musical artist that you’ve heard about that you’ve never listened to put on a song or two of them and see what all the fuss is about?

Or the best idea of all is to talk to someone new at work that you’ve seen but never talk to. Ask them open-ended questions about their life and what they’re doing there in your organization. You might’ve just stumbled on a new best friend.

The mind is like a parachute and it only functions correctly when it’s fully open.

This means that being present and staying connected to your breath is the only way to appreciate the wonders of Walt Disney and the double play acrobatics of Banana Ball or recognizing a new face in the hallway and taking the time to make a human connection by simply saying hello.

Do your thing your way today and keep your eyes peeled for opportunities to share your attitude of gratitude.
