Morning Meditation from The GratiDude

I can remember when “The Voice” started getting louder and louder and creeping into more of my thoughts.

“The Voice” I’m talking about was that of my higher self, which I had done a fairly good job of keeping it bay for the better part of two decades through self-medication and anesthesia through alcohol.

First level higher self was no problem, but that next level higher self of “ hey! We have serious shit to address here, and you have got to stop avoiding me and ghosting me when I leave you messages and signs”.

The Voice had found an opportunity,  an opening. I had let my guard down by taking yoga regularly and I did not anticipate the required stillness and quiet. That is what’s called Shavasana.

In Sanskrit, the pose Shavasana means “corpse pose “ and for many folks and especially folks in the Western world, it can be one of if not the most challenging poses to execute flawlessly.

Flawlessly there would be no twitching, tweaking, moving, adjusting, towing off fidgeting and staying connected to breath the entire time.

For me that was just like a surrender move without really knowing it as my higher-self swooped right in and started getting deep and showing me images of self-destruction if I continued my current path.

I craved the courage, faith, and the inspiration to put alcohol behind me and I was so fascinated by the idea of what this new life might look like, and it seemed so impossibly far out of reach.

As I meditated by a little lake outside of Santa Rosa Beach in the panhandle of Florida this morning, my heart was bursting with love and gratitude as all the birds chirp and even fish jumped in the lake as I breathed deeply and drank in my life experience this morning.  To be early present and grateful is everything and it’s a different type of challenging life to be able to maintain a frequency that allows me to expand this mindset and attitude.

It’s a different kind of difficult.

This is the difficult path I craved and begged for, even pined for, so I must lean into it and use all my tools and processes to embrace this new reality that I co-create everything with the creator of all love, light, energy, and life.

This type of challenge is way more in line with the challenges that I should be contemplating as a healthy human organism, and not so much the self-inflicted feelings of anxiety and sickness that came from lack of self-forgiveness and a lack of self-love being practiced.

This is a fuel that has me competing or comparing with no one and simply working every day to pursue my own personal greatness and to understand my gifts and how I can best share them for the greater good as well as staying rooted in the reality of economics and responsibilities.

It’s a fun journey because I’m never a victim.

The path to pursuing your own personal greatness is what has been called “self-actualization” by man.

Self-actualization is the process of realizing your potential and developing your abilities. It’s associated with positive well-being and can lead to a number of health benefits, including:

·         Improved mental health.

Self-actualization can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve overall mental health.

·         Better physical health

Self-actualization can help you manage high blood pressure and resist the effects of stress.

·         Increased productivity

Self-actualized people are often more productive because they’re focused on moving forward and making progress.

·         Better relationships

Self-actualized people have more emotional resources to invest in their relationships.

·         Increased self-esteem

Self-care practices can boost your self-esteem and self-worth.

·         Reduced burnout

Regular self-care can help prevent burnout, which is a state of physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion.

Self-actualization is at the top of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, so not everyone reaches it. To achieve self-actualization, you can practice acceptance, which means working with situations as they turn out and avoiding dreaming.

The fundamental concept of being a co-creator of everything in your life, which includes both the results from poor decisions as well as the fruits from your labors, all of it is a result of your life.  You must own it all, learn from it, and leverage it to figure out exactly what the recipe needs to be to make lemonade out of the lemons that you find yourself surrounded by.

I spoke with my neighbor John last night and my house does have a tree on it, but it looks like the roof did not get damaged and that it’s just going to be really a major cleanup effort.  At  least that’s what it appears like.  Folks will be going in later today and I’m also hoping that we will have an update on when electricity will return, and according to one of my kids, there are friends of theirs that have already gotten power restored so fingers crossed.

I’ll find one more adventure between here and Sarasota for tonight unless I get word by lunchtime that the power is coming back on.

There’s a converted school bus outside of Gainesville and it looks like there might be a Teepee near Weeki-Wachee that I could slide into as well if the GratiDude chooses(the GD does Airbnb as he is my Mr. Miyagi of energy and relaxation and he decides where we wax on and wax off during our travels. I pay the bills).

Enjoy the weekend and remember that your entire reality is dictated by where you choose to put your focus, and your energy will follow that.

Embrace the fact that you have a lot more control over your moods than you ever realized and choose the thoughts, things and even places that contribute to an environment that facilitates your attitude of gratitude.
