Morning Meditation from The GratiDude
As is my habit, especially when I am visiting unfamiliar places, I like to chat with as many people as possible and share a few GratiDude poker chips along the way.
The conversations that ensue are always interesting and yesterday was no different.
A woman in the thrift shop commented to me how often she hears parents saying negative things to themselves in front of their kids. Being beyond self-deprecating and downright mean to themselves saying things like “I can’t believe I did that again. I’m always such an idiot” or “ Stupid!”
And she mentioned that she never hears examples of parents pumping themselves up or doing positive self-talk in front of their kids. From her perspective there are examples, but the kids are getting are the wrong ones.
She brought up the old children’s book that I hadn’t thought about in forever which is called “ The Little Engine That Could.” The Tony Robbins of children’s books.

“ I think I can I think I can. I think I can. I think I can.”
Well, shit, that’s the secret! You must believe it BEFORE you do it!! It is not a chicken or an egg question!
I was asking her about grandchildren if she had any. She mentioned she has four of them with the youngest one being about two years old. we talked about when the two year-old was learning to walk a little over a year ago and how everybody in the community and in the family would cheer every single attempt which always led to what we call “”failure “, or not a walk that ended under their own volition and instead they simply tumbled or fell down.
In our modern society, which would be deemed failure if your intention were to a certain point and sit down in a manner that you chose versus the manner that gravity chose.
People cheer even your failures as it is the ATTEMPT that is being encouraged, regardless of the result(falling on your butt).
We don’t need overcomplicate life. We want people to cheer each other on every move just like we are babies learning to walk.
Hard stop.
No matter how hard our fall, we want our squad to be there, cheering, picking us up by our diaper and helping us dust ourselves off and learn and grow from that experience.
Before you have the squad to pick you up, you need to get your internal dialogue cleaned up and corrected and moving in the right direction so that you first get your own frequency. Tuned to exactly where you need it and want it.
Getting your own dialogue and frequency dialed in fundamentally starts connecting to your breath because that is the cornerstone to what is called thought awareness. Thought awareness is simply being able to slow down and see your thoughts for what they are and have awareness without focused attention on them. Experiencing your thoughts without having attachment to them.
I love Kevin’s dialogue here that’s so simple and transparent, honest and an affirmation that we can all replicate.
In detail, Mr. Hart alludes to the inheritances he received from his parents that he now understands were patterns or programming that resulted in thoughts and behaviors that did not serve him.
Without putting words in his mouth, he seems to be implying both a self-awareness of some of the behaviors that he seeks to NOT copy or repeat, and he also seems to be honoring the fact that it’s an ongoing process that he needs to keep participating in and respect the fact that this life is truly a journey.
It’s nice to see what society considers hugely successful people to be open and vulnerable in terms of their own personal mental health and wellness practice and journey.
Positive self-affirmations can have many physical health benefits, including:
Reduced stress
Positive affirmations can help you create a mental buffer against stressors and reduce the production of cortisol, a stress hormone.
Improved cardiovascular health.
A positive mood can lead to better cardiovascular health and reduce the risk of stroke and heart attacks.
Increased physical activity.
Positive affirmations can help you open your mind to making lifestyle changes, like exercising more.
Improved sleep
When incorporated into meditation, positive affirmations can have a positive impact on sleep, especially for those suffering from anxiety and depression.
Increased self-confidence and self-worth
Positive affirmations can help you feel more confident and self-worth.
Positive affirmations can also help you: Reduce depression and distress levels, improve your ability to manage stress, extend your life span, and reframe the way you see a situation.
While affirmations can be beneficial, they are not a substitute for professional treatment if you need it.
You must be comfortable talking to yourself more often than you think you should be at first.
You should experience how quickly you can elevate your life experience by participating actively in the neuroscience available to us between your ears.
Day five of the MMA, the Milton Mobile Adventure continues.

House is right of tree and the surge did not come this far!! House did NOT flood as anticipated.
Tree damage is between houses…BUT on top of my golf car(pancake).
But in the BIG picture, ALL good!
Thanks again for the vibes, onward and upward into the weekend with sunny skies and an attitude of gratitude.
