There are people that I remember in my life that even if you had $1 million in cash of unmarked small bills sitting in front of me in a briefcase or a duffel bag ready to give to me I couldn’t for the life of me remember the actual words that these people use That made me feel a certain way.
In some cases, I can’t remember their names even.
Maya Angelou is known for saying, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel“. This quote can be used as a guide for personal and professional life, and can help people consider how they inspire others, make them feel valued, and leave a lasting positive impression.
This is a big part of the “WHY” that I had for creating my GratiDude poker chips, which have become a vehicle for me to share my message of gratitude and love every day when I’m out and about in the world.
Yesterday at the Midas muffler shop, where my kid Lucas got a new set of rear tires for his Pontiac vibe that he just came in possession of, I hooked up Greg(G) the manager with just such a poker chip.
G absolutely loved it, and he told me the story about how the owner of this muffler shop, which happens to be a franchise model as I learned after inquiry, owns three Midas muffler shops. He is a very wise and smart equity owner in that he knows that hogs end up getting slaughtered but a pig that shares lives forever.
So, he shares.
What I mean by that is that his three managers at the respective Midas muffler shops each have an equity ownership stake in that franchise, and they share in profits at your end based upon KPI’s and other preset goals.
When I told him that I needed him to say “I’m going to bet on myself” to keep the chip, he started smiling and he told me that that’s exactly what the owner of the Midas muffler shop told him he was doing when he gave him his equity stake and became a Manager. The Owner told him “ I’m just gonna go ahead and bet on you Greg.”
Betting on yourself resonated deeply with him as an equity owner and he loved the inspirational message, and he told me to keep on chugging and come by whenever I’m in the barrio.
This is a different type of value that I present in my community and the value is recognized and very real and if it’s not, I simply don’t return and engage with those people because they’re not attracted to my frequency.
Greg is.
So that’s where my kid will be taking their car from now on until they go to college in a few years up to university of Florida presumably and find another mechanic up there in Gainesville that is with gratitude and has the right attitude. His frequency will attract abundance, and we will resonate together because this is how things work when you actively take control of your life from an energetic standpoint.
Where do I want to leave my fingerprints? It is a conscious choice you make every day. What you do, no matter how small it may seem at the time, leaves an impact. What do you love and want to leave behind?
It is not in the grand gestures and decisions that your life is measured by. It is in the everyday moments, the opportunity to be nice to someone, to smile, to be passionate about something. Not for any monetary gain, or for fame, but because you feel compelled to leave beauty in the world.
What are your values?
What’s your skill and passion?
How do you want to use it?
Where will you leave your fingerprint?
We all can choose our impacts for the people that were going to touch through the decisions we make, and simply physically approach people or make the effort to open our mouth and say hello. Is a form of touch that activates contact and initiates conversation go ahead and use your eyes even if you’re a little bit uncertain of what to say.
A smile will melt the hardest and coldest ice, so break out that warm grin and see what happens.
We leave behind little energetic, fingerprints on people that might not be visible from a distance, but when those folks recapitulate their days at the end of the day at night, lying on their back in bed interaction or the energy that we left behind before they fall asleep. This is the ripple effect of human interaction, and this is why we must take seriously how we make other people feel and take advantage of our interactions so that we utilize those moments to help move us all in the right direction from a positivity, love, and compassion standpoint.
It is impossible to consciously have these types of impacts if you’re self-absorbed and thinking about other things outside of the present moment. If you’re thinking about something in the future or something in the past that you’re ruminating on, you’re missing the interactions that might never happen again with another soul here on earth at the same time as you.
The universe and God have put you into a position to exchange information with people through your interactions, but if you’re breath and heart are not present, you miss what could be an important message or meeting.
Don’t miss the message.
Choose your impact consciously.
Don’t be afraid to plant seeds for trees you’ll never sit under.
Enjoy your Sunday before Manic Monday(GratiDude is a big Bangles fan FYI) and relax and be proud of yourself on this journey. Everything is just a lesson or a blessing, so celebrate the life experience that is unique to you with an attitude of gratitude.
