I’m at the Gym, not moving, being perfectly still, training to be a Statue.

Morning Meditation from The GratiDude

“Comparison is the death of joy.” – Mark Twain

“Comparison is the thief of joy.” – Theodore Roosevelt

“How much time he gains who does not look to see what his neighbor says or does or thinks, but only at what he does himself, to make it just and holy.” – Marcus Aurelius

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

When a bunch of interesting and people smarter than me talk about a subject, it deserves further examination.

We’re going to peel that onion a little bit today.

From a logic standpoint, one of the underlying assumptions or concepts around doing a comparison is that you are comparing like to like items.  That is where the saying apples and oranges comes from, you can’t compare apples to oranges as they are completely different fruits, and you can only compare one apple to another apple, or one orange to another orange.

From a science or frequency standpoint, comparisons can lower our energy by creating a sense of inadequacy or pressure to conform, leading to negative emotions that drain our mental and emotional resources, thus reducing our overall energy levels; this is particularly true when comparing ourselves to others who seem to be performing better or achieving more than us, especially when the comparisons are focused on areas we value highly.

Bringing that back to the human experience since there is no other fruit on planet earth that is quite the flavor and composition of Kevin Carpenter a.k.a. the GratiDude it would be impossible for me to find a like to like with which to do a comparison.

Yet all day every day, human beings in modern societies, evaluate their current state by outside influences and using comparisons versus giving themselves a look into their heart and a checkup from the neck up, which is the only place they should be looking to do a wellness check.

This would mean that every single person being unique and different is like a completely new and different variety of fruit.  And just like every fruit has different agronomic needs different temperature tolerances soil, preferences heat sun variances pruning needs tolerance to frost, etc. every person is going to need to develop their own unique approach to self-care and self-love.

You cannot apply the same fertilizer to tomatoes as you would agave and expect for similar prolific production and results.  Every plant, every animal, and every human have different needs.

Why this is relevant and important to you personally is that it should free you up to realize that you may borrow and replicate some of what people do on a daily basis in pursuit of your own health and wellness, however, lots of it is going to be very unique to you and the total combination of everything you do from dirt to doorbell or from waking up to going to sleep is going to be totally unique and specific to just you.

This video shows that as you see Bobsledding competitor training for the exact type of physical activity. They need to launch the sled prior to barreling down the hill at light speed in a tube on a piece of ice.

If this had hesitations or concerns about other people’s opinions or impressions of his day-to-day activities, he would never make it to the top of the mountain to be a competitor in bobsledding.

The same holds true for you, but instead of thinking about making it to the top of the mountain to Bob sled, it’s about maximizing your own talents and gifts in a way that drives your happiness and enjoyment your life experience.  That is your sled. That is your mountain. That is your gold medal aspiration.

No one else can aspire for the same goal other than you, so there is no one to compare yourself with and there is no one you’re competing against.

So, chillax sister, take a deep breath, my brother, and settle into the journey that is your own personal pursuit of greatness in whatever former fashion strikes you at whatever time it hits you.

The faster you can join me in the opt-in Social Group “Club ZFG”*, the better for you and all your closest friends and Family.

*ZFG stands for Zero Fu(ks given, and is a term not approved by The Grateful4.org leadership but is still fun to use occasionally.

Let’s remember the lessons that we ever received from the folks in assisted-living that remind us that their biggest regret was not living a life, truer to their spirit into the voice inside them that was encouraging them to pursue their dreams.

Stay focused on the fact that time goes faster than we realize and the little child inside of us is still there and those dreams are just as real today and just as important as they were when we were little.

Go ahead and dial in your daily routine and put on your blinders.  This way you enjoy your process and keep shining that ever-expanding attitude of gratitude.
