This is from the vault of providing equal time and publicity for the great stories in life. Please keep in mind that there are infinitely many more incredible kind stories like this that just don’t happen to get documented in a way where you or I might see it, which is one of the reasons I look out for acts like this in different social media feeds to bring to folks that might not ordinarily experience it.
When I was between the ages of 10-13 or so, I was an avid watcher of “The Price is Right” during the summer months.
It came on at 10 am, so I would crawl out of bed at 9:45 or so and make a bowl of cereal that consisted of 1/2 of a box of Rice Chex and a full quart of milk.
I would sit down and even have a calculator ready for the Showcase Showdown.
Alfalfa, one of the Members of the Eberwhite Our Gang in Ann Arbor, would watch as well and we would call each other for the showcase showdown and document our bids for BOTH showcases.
I was very, very good.
AND, Bob Barker was my MAN! I never thought there could be another Barker in my life….until I saw this video with Travis, my favorite living Barker now.
One thing I can’t help but feel after watching this video is a whole Lotta love and respect for Travis Barker. At the end of the day, if you look at all the little things that he’s doing in this video even if it was set up as a Wish type thing or some people pulled some strings obviously to get it captured on video all of the detail and small kind things to make it so special Are truly incredible.
In this video, he becomes totally present with the young man battling cancer when he visits him backstage prior to his concert.
The way he looks at him and sits down, so their eyes are even when he talks to him is incredibly thoughtful and kind and reassuring.
Getting his wife on the phone to say hello and even saying that she wished she was there to meet him just to throw more love and kindness at him. All these things are not mandatory or standard operating when you’re going through the motions of doing something as a celebrity because your agent has forced you to have to do it or you need PR etc.
This has some real genuine compassion and mental engagement, especially the scene when they’re both drumming together at the same time facing each other, it just makes you wanna cry it’s so beautiful.

Travis “Vibe is Right” Barker did NOT have to do THIS, did HE? Or FaceTime his Famous-Ass wife to throw gas on this Kid’s Experience.
Travis:
Chose his Attitude
Chose to Play
Made it about the Kid
Travis was Utterly Present
And here’s the river card or the hook, though for all of us reading this is that there are people that if we could become ultra present with or set up a real special moment like this, that we could create lifelong memories as well.
It’s not about fame as much as thoughtfulness and the concern for other people’s well-being and upliftment.
What is required instead of fame and Fortune is to slow down and make your experiences about the other people that you’re with. This means that you’re not thinking about the other things you need to do later or something that happened earlier in the day instead you’re totally focused on your interaction in conversation and also paying attention to the details of the person’s voice and body language and energy to make sure you’re getting a full understanding of what’s going on in your shared experience together at that moment.
The way Travis Barker is looking at that kid in the eye when they’re both drumming together talking to him with his eyes to hold the beat and to enjoy the moment, he couldn’t have been anywhere else except right there at that time.
And that’s admirable and I’m also happy for Travis Barker because with that ability and conscious presence in his life, he must really be enjoying himself and having a great life to be honest with you.
When you choose to be here now, in a conversation with another person, your takeaway afterwards is so much more gratifying and satisfying, knowing that you were fully present for the experience. It allows you to recapitulate experiences and conversations with detail and to learn more about yourself in the process by having good accurate information as to what transpired because your mind wasn’t somewhere in the past or in the future.
And to really drive home the point of how aware Travis Barker is as a person and how locked, and he was on making me experience about the young man battling cancer. He even remembered after the show where he was to toss in his sticks that he used during the show.
As if he hadn’t already done and for him to immediately be able to forget about the thousands of screaming adoring fans as he’s walking off stage and immediately be thinking of other people it’s just another giveaway to what a big heart and he’s operating with this Travis Barker.
All of this leaves me to believe that Travis Barker must be some sort of illegitimate or secret son of the late great golfer and game show host Bob Barker.
Everybody knows Bob Barker had a heart of gold and one was a wonderful human and I think this just proves that they must be directly related.
And whether you’re drumming for dollars just know that the price will always be right when you’re rocking to the beat with an attitude of gratitude.
