This video is everything when it comes to making decisions about pursuing your own personal greatness.
Just this phrase “personal greatness” can seem really daunting if you’re not feeling good if you’re not vibrating at a high-level or as I used to wake up many days hung over, which is a long, long way from greatness.
It struck me immediately when I watched this. I was reminded of a conversation, three or four years ago with Merril Hoge the thought, leader, and man behind the message. “Find a Way.”
Merril is a super humble kind man and talks about his inspiring messages as simply being the right spark at the right time to give someone the belief that they can activate or take a step in the right direction (literally or figuratively).
Merril used the example of just activating one person with his public speaking, to hit that person in the room that needed just that message of encouragement from a guy sharing his honest and vulnerable stories of his own personal challenges and struggles.
I remembered distinctly Merril explaining “I just want that person to feel like they can get up off the couch and just walk around the block one time. I don’t kid myself thinking that they’re gonna hop right up after listening to me and go run a marathon, but everything happens in small steps and the first step of getting started is always the hardest. That’s why it’s critical you “Find a Way.”
What Iowa Mom also shows is just how much your higher self knows what is good for you and when you start to align with behavior that improves yourself and gives you more opportunity connect with that source energy you will end up doing more and more of that behavior.
You will be on that treadmill every single day once you start to realize that it has become a critical factor for keeping you in your growth mode and in a place where you’re able to clearly listen to the messages you are receiving from something bigger than you.
I can relate with Iowa mom as I too like to share all my efforts and struggles and trials and tribulations with others just to show folks that nothing is easy and nobody is perfect. A little bit of encouragement from the struggle of someone else both helps manage your expectations and let you know that there’s no perfect time to start getting better.
And this is not a chicken or the egg conversation.

We don’t have to wonder if Iowa mom got on the treadmill before the thought occurred to her to do so or if the thought came first.
The thought is always the egg that hatches the action it can’t be the other way around.
Furthermore, if I will, mom was choosing to occupy her mind in all of her free time with technology or alcohol or drugs, or some other unhealthy fascination or addiction I would never have received the message about getting on the treadmill and grabbing that can of GOYA(Get Off Your Ass). Iowa, mom had to have found a few clear moments of being in the generous present moment of now to receive the clarity in the message that a little bit of activity is a fantastic place to start.
If you like me, you eagerly awaited every next clip of her, running on the treadmill because you could see her going backwards in age in every little clip.
Iowa Mom(IM) lost weight, but more importantly IM honestly looks about 15 years younger than she did when she started this whole treadmill experiment.
For thousands of years in Yoga practitioners have said that “you’re only as young as your spine is flexible.”
In other words. If you stay fluid and flexible in your spine, that is the ultimate canary in the coal mine for physical health.
Imagine the energetic ripple, the encouragement and all the other Michigan Moms Oregon Moms Kansas Moms Florida Moms that found the motivation or other words “found away “after seeing Iowa mom do it, they realized “I can do it as well.”
And for all the folks reading this out there that desire change in their life improved presence in all of their relationships, more calm, more enjoyment, more happiness look at me just like Iowa mom, but instead of a treadmill, picture a meditation cushion under my butt and a smile on my face.
My improvements can be seen in my physical appearance as well; however, the real improvement can only be felt when you’re with me in person, and you feel the love coming from my heart and the calm energy that I always carry with me.
I can be even more than simple inspiration, though I can give you the step-by-step tools practices, and mindset approaches to get on your own treadmill and grab your aunt own can of GOYA.
Self-improvement is nothing but self-love.
Self-care is self-love.
Self-love is love for your family and love for your community because you are working to present the best version of yourself, which only makes your family and your community stronger and better.
It is that simple.
We must put the mask on ourselves first as we are taught on the airplane and create practices and behaviors that we would be proud of everyone else in our community or family emulating, from a health and wellness standpoint.
Tomorrow is promised to nobody, and time is a-wasting.
So, get on it like a puppy on a pork chop and grab your favorite pair of sneakers and head out the door and celebrate Iowa Mom and Mom’s everywhere getting healthy with an attitude of gratitude.
