Breathing with intention creates Presence. Presence is the Door. To Everything.
Djokovic gives away the whole thought process behind the six-week coaching program that we are doing with the grateful for organization.
An Interviewer comes at him with a serious, no-fluff question like:
“What is the key to mental health and wellness?”
The answer?
Breath.
Not just any breath, but conscious breathing. Practice understanding how you take some oxygen specifically around the patterns, your mouth, or your nose and how your mind in your consciousness are attached and participating in the process.
This is the cornerstone, the foundation the starting point it is not a chicken or the type of thing where you can achieve presents or improve state of being without having good breathing practices that are consistent and conducive to your organisms, overall help, and functionality.
I have a dear friend right now, who is living a lifestyle like what I live when I was traveling a great deal and focused on commerce business deals, and measurable ego activities with my personal health and wellness, taking a backseat and not being my primary focus.
When you live a life like that, your body will eventually and sooner rather than later start giving you signs that something is awry or amiss.
It’s acid reflux and you suddenly have to buy Tums from the store at the airport.
Your expensive custom-made suit is a bit too snug to wear to the big meeting this week and the chances are the Suit didn’t shrink, but instead your body has gotten bigger.
And not bigger, like what happens in prison from lifting weights and eating bread and water, but bigger around your belly from sugar, processed food, and alcohol.
Or the cocaine that you dabble in weekly has burrowed a hole through one side of your nostril like John Henry did with his hammer back in the day and you pretend that that’s no big deal because God gave you two nostrils.
All these things are happening every day all around us on LinkedIn in our workplace in our community. some are our neighbors, and like most people out there chasing it and really getting after it from a travel business standpoint, almost everyone is having a very tough time balancing health and wellness in the process.
It’s just really tough to do.
However, getting direction from some folks that have been through this process on where to start is a good first step.
Otherwise, you feel like you’re going to try to eat the elephant in one giant bite and instead nibbling away and finding a good starting point that moves you in the right direction is more beneficial and more productive in the end.

One thing you can during the day that’s really easy is keep tally on your phone, or even just with a piece of paper and a pen or a pencil if your old school, try to count the number of times that you catch yourself either holding your breath or breathing through your mouth when you could be breathing through your nose. Keep two different counts.
One count for holding your breath and you can always check this when you’re feeling anxiety 99.9% of the time, you’re holding your breath.
AND
Keep an eye on how you’re taking your oxygen in whether it is the inefficient and less healthy approach of mouth breathing, or the nose breathing that provides natural purification and a much higher percentage of oxygen to the bloodstream.
Start keeping count.
This helps you stay present in the moment and gets your mind connected to an awareness of your breathing.
Just start here.
This is like learning the forehand in tennis. The backhand takes a little bit more instruction and is less intuitive so let’s just start with the forehand or learn how to breathe again.
There are numerous different breathing techniques that all serve to reduce anxiety and improve wellness and here are just a few.
Don’t underestimate the fundamentals in life, things like breathing and drinking enough water, and moving your body in some sort of fashion every single day.
This is the shit that matters.
Not that spreadsheet, bro.
You can’t update the Excel cell formula in Column N, Row 27, if you’re dead.
Get your mind out of the gutter and grab your putter.
Take some deep breaths and go play.
Of all the old folks I met in the assisted living place where my mom spent her last few years not even one of them ever told me that they regretted playing.
Not one person.
I can tell you all the things they regret has to do with not spending time with their friends and family, believing that their boss actually gave a shit about them when they really didn’t, and as Pink Floyd used to say “trading your hours for a handful of dimes”.
Everything starts with a deep breath and knowing that you are perfectly OK exactly where you are today right here right now.
There is no other place could be and life is all about learning and growing, there can be no shame in anyone’s game.
We are building an organization, a business, and in the process of movement, all based around a mindset of abundance and with a priority on action and compassion.
