Let me explain…
What is Self-Talk?
Self-talk is where your conscious thoughts, subconscious beliefs, and biases meet. It is what you say to yourself, about yourself or the situation while you are thinking. This is where we make sense of our world and react to it.
Did you know that humans tend to have thousands of separate and ongoing thoughts throughout their typical day? How we focus on each thought and ascribe meaning to them will impact the quality of our life.
While our life experience and social context paints a picture of how we see the world, the inner dialogue we have with ourselves about this picture, creates depth and dimension. For some, their self-talk and the internal world are their own worst enemy, and is often the most difficult relationship to manage. It is not: “I think, therefore I am”—it’s “I am what I think.” There are two general types of self-talk that I feel is important to mention here: negative and positive.
It’s very hard for folks to grasp the concept that we are not our thoughts. In other words when we have negative and bad thoughts that doesn’t mean that we are negative or bad people. Bad thoughts don’t make a bad life.
The ability to separate who we are from the perspective of our higher self and what our true passions, talents, and desires are that we are born with and keep that very clear so that thoughts that don’t match up with that we can let go. thoughts that don’t serve our purpose of what we’re wishing to accomplish or the energy that we want to provide to others around us. We need to not water with energy. We must find the discipline to let them pass by recognize those thoughts not judge them and let them keep going just like a cloud that passes through the sky.
We Narrate Our Life Through Self-Talk
Language is powerful; especially language that takes place in our head. The way that a person talks to or about themself is like a narrator in a movie or story. It solidifies and adds structure to the story. How a person narrates their experience determines EVERYTHING in terms how life is perceived.
As such, repetitive thoughts also have a huge impact on how we relate to others we are in relationship with. In a bad home relationship, this could be constantly thinking that your significant other is an idiot or incompetent, which will most definitely impact your level of trust, connection, libido and respect for that person.
In a bad work relationship, it could be repetitive thoughts of how unhappy you are at a specific company and that you feel trapped in your position, which will impact your work performance.
Present moment awareness and staying connected to breath allows you to help unwind some of these repetitive thoughts by replacing them with positive affirmations and breathing.
Unawareness of where your body activates when it’s feeling anxiety or a type of energy that might be called negative is a really great warning shot over the bow to help you regain some control control in that moment.
For me personally, where I feel my intuition or discomfort or anxiety kick in is in the center of my chest. It’s not really a knot, but it’s almost like an interruption of flow that I feel that for lack of a better term is sort of like congestion…. Or a stuffy nose for my soul in that particular moment.
The intensity of that feeling so is the intensity of my response.
When I was going through some really heavy things over the last year involving radical changes in my life, I had moments where I had to go into some real deep breathing exercises because I was emotionally spinning and reeling.
I’ve done more practice and breath work as well as more sobbing and crying over the last probably 18 months then I had in my whole life prior it feels like.
The really funny and ironic thing, and the way that God in the universe work is they really made me test out try and utilize all of the things I’m going to be sharing and teaching around mindfulness meditation thought awareness, present moment, awareness, and all of these complementary practices that help Someone build a more healthy, consistent way of thinking feeling and living.
I felt like the old Hair club for men commercial where I would say: “ I’m not just a client of Hair club for men. I’m also the owner.”
I’m not just the Sherpa that teaches; present moment awareness, breathing techniques and breath work, meditation tools and practices. mindfulness reclamation projects, wellness, and attitude advisement, I’m also a straight DISCIPLE!
And so it goes as you meet truly joyful happy people in your life, take the time to connect with them in the present moment through conversation and energy exchange. You will often find that they have been through some of the most difficult and challenging situations of anyone.

The ability to go through the fire and come out the other side and heal those burn wounds, and then help others avoid the flames, is a truly sweet sense of paying it forward and of demonstrating love and unity in a very meaningful way.
When you know the difference between your thoughts and your direction from your higher-self, you can then work on bridging the gap in your thought choices and get your mind closer aligned to the vibration from your Source, and you will feel more pure joy in your life.
Which is nice, right?
