Downtown Sarasota has become quite vibrant, especially since Covid went away and with all of the influx of new visitors and residents that have come to Florida in the last few years. My little town that I came to almost 30 years ago has clearly been discovered, and there is no putting the toothpaste back in the tube.
What hasn’t changed though is the fact that the downtown businesses, which I’m getting to know more and more of my involvement and being on the board of the nonprofit here locally DSA, or downtown Sarasota alliance.
Downtown Sarasota Alliance – Home

My buddy Shay asked me to join as they were looking for some enthusiasm and energy, which for some strange reason, he felt like I could bring in mass quantities to the organization, ha ha.
Thanks Brother Shay for the opportunity to get involved and to meet lots of new great people that are living and working downtown.
My old office office for almost 10 years was located close to downtown so for things like my haircuts and getting to know local restaurants even jewelry shops,

I’ve gotten acquainted with many of the local entrepreneurs, especially those that make downtown their place of business and life.
After a lunch meeting yesterday with my new Homie, Mike, who just moved down to the area from Ohio and is a super brilliant golf content creator and Player, I popped into one of the local jewelry shops where I have some friends and I’ve gotten some items and work done over the years. The vibe is awesome in the jewelry shop. They’ve got really cool high-end stuff that’s super artistic and interesting and they make most of the pieces that are in house.
On my way out of the shop yesterday, Chuck, the guy who stays in the back and wears the telephoto goggles for looking at jewelry in a microscopic fashion(called a Loupe, BTW) was walking back to the shop as I was walking out.

Chuck would be on the introvert side of things from a personality or TypeCoach assessment(type coach is a partner in all of my coaching and gratitude based development programs as it is a truly revolutionary way to understand the way that people in your world, as well as yourself receive and share energy as well as how they communicate from a natural predisposition perspective).
Chuck and I have had conversations around gratitude as one of the women that works at the jewelry shop follows my writing and is a big gratitude evangelist so she shared with him my superpowers(shhhhhhh!). Apparently my secret has been safe as Chuck has not spilled the beans with other downtown merchants as to the dual life that I lead in my ability to pull the proverbial mental thorns out of peoples skulls, using gratitude, grace, breathing, and good vibes as The GratiDude.
Chuck told me that my gratitude practice and sharing my writings and thoughts with his coworker have really helped her and he gave me the most simple straightforward bit of feedback and encouragement that I’ve had in some time that I wanted to share.
He said on the sidewalk and I say this to you as well:
“Anyone trying their best to do anything good that is from a place of love, is moving all of us in the right direction. So thank you.”
Gulp. Wow bro.
The sidewalks gonna get wet, bro, starting to cry that was so sweet!
He was so matter-of-fact with it as if he was Walter Cronkite from 1975 reading the evening news and stated it as if it was a factually obvious reality that could be measured and confirmed.
Like some benevolent authority proofreads my Blog every morning and declares:
“Yes, this here content is authentic gratitude. This is approved as this is good for ALL OF US and this is what WE NEED to move us all in the direction to elevate our collective consciousness. This is good stuff.”
Well, all right, all right all right!
That’s how I felt when I walked away, and I also realize that based on Chuck’s personality him being this awkwardly communicative and vulnerable was the equivalent of me, jumping on top of a car with a megaphone. So I recognize just how cool and thoughtful this short conversation was.
I am passing on this encouragement to all of you from Chuck.
Let’s all just do a little something good and be just fine with that being good enough as it’s moving us all in the right direction.
What Chuck is pointing out is the simple fact that when we get out of our own heads and we stop just thinking about ourselves and the needs of our ego and make a concerted effort to contribute some energetically positive positive or thoughtful towards others in our day-to-day lives, we are moving things in proper direction towards the world of more love and compassion.
When we focus on making other people’s days, by being present in our interactions, we are moving things in the right direction. All by ourselves.
That’s plenty.
Thank you for being a part of the solution today by focusing on doing some kind act and encouraging others or thanking others that are being kind and their daily practices.
You see we can’t carry on our shoulders or change everything and the reality is we have a lifetime of work to just be the best version of ourselves that we can be.
Our thoughts and behaviors and being aware, increasingly, of all the 95% of our thoughts that are transpiring in our subconscious and make sure that those thoughts are serving us in a healthy and productive way.
Gratitude is the vehicle that I will be most effective for the number of people to help them understand present moment awareness, and to grow a perspective of abundance in their personal minds and their subsequent lives families and communities.
So be like Chuck and be vulnerable and be on the lookout for opportunities as my guy said to “ move us all in the right direction “with an Attitude of Gratitude.

Grateful: to understand how the bigger picture of the gratitude movement is going to come together. Not an if, a when, and it is just patience required. Buckle up.
