Love letters are best when they come as surprises, even if Jeff Bezos sent it!

I was hoping that this entrepreneur still included a letter with every order. This was my second time ordering these incredibly soft and comfy, small little area rugs, and I was blown away the first time I opened a package and received one of these thoughtful letters.

There’s so many layers of coolness to this and I’m thinking you could use this letter alone as an incredible story of both reinvention and how to communicate with your customers build a brand and build a business.

Above and beyond everything, the product has to be solid and deliver as promised.  They definitely have them, as these little rugs(below in front of a roaring fake fire) are the most comfortable thing my feet have ever touched.  

The way I discovered was that an Airbnb and when I put my foot on it, I was so blown away that I had to figure out who made it and I tracked it down.

The letter openly and honestly tells their story of being an entrepreneur, and also being totally open and honest about how they came to this path.  I find this refreshing as an entrepreneur and having worked with entrepreneurs all of my life.

I know that every day is a new challenge and it’s never a bed of roses.

They also explain why they chose to use Amazon as their store location, which I find somewhat unique and also rather interesting. They opine that Amazon is like Main Street in e-commerce town and then it creates a fair and equitable marketplace. Pretty interesting perspective from a very small low cap entrepreneur.  However, it’s a very informed opinion and they are a subject matter expert in this area as far as I’m concerned.

I also really appreciate how they talk through the last few years and bring us back to the Covid. We can see the Genesis of their entrepreneurial journey.  

Then they get the meat and potatoes of the Ownership of your new product and how to maximize the value of the investment that you’ve just made.  This is almost like the old-school sales training when you would congratulate a buyer further decision and how brilliant they are to have taken the bait that you were dangling on your hook in the water ha ha.  As they describe the different processes of care and some gentle warnings, the love they have for the product and the care that they put into it comes through and you feel how genuine it is.

As they wrap up the communication, I love the fact that they talk about their entire ethos and vision for being an entrepreneur.  

This is an opportunity for them to create joy and happiness in the world in their very small way. They’re grateful for the opportunity to do this and thankful for their customers that allow them to share their skills and their love in the form of this super comfortable little rug.

This product and letter shows that you can’t choose all of the aspects of your work and all the tasks that you have to do during the day, but you sure as hell can choose your attitude.

Every single time it is an option to choose an attitude of gratitude.

Make sure that regardless of whatever type of work that you do that you’re thinking the people that are participating in the constellation of economics that supports your livelihood.  

You need to express your appreciation and gratitude to other people in your industry and especially your coworkers for all of their individual contributions.  

If you have customers and work in any sort of custom facing position, you need to focus not on the transaction and revenue, but more on building personal relationships with your clients and finding common ground that you can expand upon so you can learn more about each other in earnest and Sisters and Brothers, not Buyers and Sellers.

Behind every transaction and every price tag are human beings that literally want the exact same things as you do.

To be with their loved ones and enjoy a nice tasty meal in a warm dry safe place.

To be able to sleep throughout the night without fear of personal danger or harm.

To be able to seek treatment if you become ill.

To improve and educate yourself and to improve your ability to serve others within your community. 

And, because imitation is the highest form of flattery…..
