There are a lot of signs of summer every year, and I wrote about some of the sounds recently when I was talking about cicadas coming out of the ground based upon rising temperatures. You don’t need an old-fashioned thermometer if you have your ears because they will tell you when it gets hot just by the sounds of the bugs.

This is just an example to remind you that you are not outside of nature, but inherently a part of it, and you were reminded every time you take a breath.

One of the signs of back in the day for me when I was a little kid was that I would always have at least one stubbed toe.  Stub toe meaning that I would have a cut or a little wound on the end of my big toe from just going full speed all the time without shoes on.  When you do that the edge of your foot being your big toe receives initial impact from things like sticks and stones and other things that can break bones.

All summer from about the middle of May till middle of September, you could count on Band-Aids being consumed and numerous towels ending up with blood on them in the laundry room, all because of “toes gone wild”.

I don’t stub my toe quite as often, however I do paint my big toes for fun and for Yoga. Not sure why, but folks are into my toes at yoga….so I give the people what they want.

Summer Watermelon Toes here. Take a bite.

When I was wrapping up my hypnotherapy studies out in California a few months ago, one of the host of the retreat, recounted how his mother growing up was adamant to keep her feet on the ground literally as often as possible.  She wore sandals that had no bottoms, but look like sandals with the strap coming between the toe but really we’re just for appearance sake so that people realize she was walking around barefoot 95% of the time.

Her theory and reason behind it was purely scientific and physical around having a constant grounding connection to the earth into the source of all energy to not interrupt that especially not with a rubber soul shoe made to not conduct electricity.

It makes you wonder who came up with the rubber shoes and it’s a giant conspiracy to sever the connection of energy between us little humans and mother or simply because rubber was the most practical material. I would like to think it’s a little, but it’s probably just practicality and economics says the capitalist entrepreneur in me, ha ha.

I was reminded of the need to talk about how our minds often put us in a narrative outside of nature when that is completely impossible to be true.

Our breath is the food for trees. The trees breath is the food for us and when we touch a tree or our feet touch grass, the connection and the circle is complete.  Something happens to our organism in nature that rebalances and corrects us.

I spoke with a very close friend who doesn’t live near me, I love him very much and he struggles with a closer relationship that he has with a person that is mired in scarcity and fear based  thinking. The energetic affect and the emotional drain is palpable even from a few thousand miles away.  Energetically sucked and left driving around running errands feeling disconnected and empty.

I gave him the prescription of doing one or two things before the sun goes down:

Touch a tree with both hands or

Stick both hands in the ocean for even just a few seconds.

I was inspired by this video below, and wanted to pass on the wisdom that was passed on to me.

This is all I’m doing in my career as a Coach, or a Happiness Sherpa, is simply aggregating and assembling all of the wisdom and kindness that it’s been shared with me combined with new research and work to put together curriculum, education and uplifting, programmatic activities to shift individuals energies and help everyone improve their thought patterns and processes and proclivity towards happiness.

A prescription of nature is never a bad idea so let’s take that as our Friday message and find a way to physically even in the smallest way such as walking through wet grass and bare feet rolling the windows down while you’re driving and breathing fresh air maybe throwing a fishing line in a stream upon close by your house just to see if anything nibbles and to give your worms in your fridge a swim.

We continue to pave over the Earth and find new ways to extract resources from the planet however, all the asphalt in the world can’t separate us from the fact that we are connected to all living things and all energy everywhere through a single source of all love and light.

For me, today, that is way more than enough enough to keep me humming and vibrating at a high-level, my feet in the grass and hands on a tree and my heart broadcasting out an Attitude of Gratitude.

EVERY DAY:
