Morning Platitude from The GratiDude

It’s interesting to look at what our default needs and wants are from an early age. We don’t need a lot to be happy however somehow along the way we get convinced that we do need a lot more than we had previously thought to be happy in a modern society.

The challenge with so many things as adults is to peel apart the thoughts and beliefs that we wish to keep that are serving us, and those are the thoughts that make us healthier and happier.

However, we have many thoughts often subconscious thoughts, that fuel things like fear and anxiety, and it’s often hard to ascertain or determine where those thoughts lie and how they manifest themselves in our lives.

I was just thinking this morning about an incredibly talented artist woman who has an incredible personality and great communication skills and could have an incredible brand around crafting and entertainment, and I’m sure do it as a full-time gig with sponsors and other supporters if it was something that she pursued full-time.

From the outside, other friends and family can see that she clearly has the ability in the skill set to do something that could be enjoyable around her passions and interests and turn it into a full-time job and career path.

This is all fine and dandy however, the problem is that this artist has a great deal of fear programming and is having trouble finding the self-belief to make the move beyond just a hobby and into a business.

When you’re out in the entrepreneur’s world and you meet other folks doing business and pursuing their passions, it’s clear that just quitting because it’s so difficult is the number one cause of failure for most small independent businesses. Yes of course you need capital, however, with faith and belief and hard work you can usually find enough capital of a limp along until you can crack the code for your business or service or whatever it is you’re pursuing to bring to the world.

Aligning your activities with joy is only possible when you choose faith over fear.

This Buddha Bro here has the right program and he focuses on staying present.

The important takeaway here as this tropical gentle gentleman explains is to enjoy the day today so you can appreciate the fundamental things like good health, family, and friends, and even a garden.

It becomes increasingly clear to me that there are 7.5 billion different versions of what reality looks like and that what we see in the world outside of us is simply a mirror reflection of what we’re experiencing inside. When I meet people that immediately go into a diatribe of doom and gloom, whether it’s political or environmental or some other impending catastrophe that we should be focused on that is beyond our control, it really drives on the point that reality in our own individual consciousness is completely subjective.

Yes, the idea that “happiness is an inside job” emphasizes that true happiness stems from internal factors and cultivating a positive mindset rather than solely relying on external circumstances or people.

Here’s a more detailed explanation:

Focus on Internal Factors:

The phrase suggests that happiness is not something that can be found or given to you, but rather something you cultivate within yourself.

Mindset and Perspective:

Happiness is often viewed as a state of mind, influenced by how we perceive ourselves, others, and our experiences.

Self-Responsibility:

This perspective encourages taking responsibility for your own happiness by focusing on your thoughts, actions, and choices rather than waiting for external validation or events.

Cultivating Inner Strength:

It emphasizes the importance of developing resilience, self-compassion, and a positive outlook to navigate challenges and find joy in life.

Examples:

Tony Robbins: He uses the phrase “Happiness is an inside job” to emphasize that our brains are designed for survival, not necessarily happiness, and that we need to actively cultivate a positive mindset.

Sylvia Boorstein: In her book, “Happiness Is an Inside Job,” she explores how mindfulness, concentration, and effort can lead to calmness, clarity, and joy.

Dr. Lauren Tober: She emphasizes that happiness is within us and that we should not seek it externally.

You really do get to play the role that you want, and to choose to enter into a state of mind where you know that happiness is both achievable, a default setting that we can return to, and something that can be achieved through the surrender of fear based thinking and embracing the unknown and abundance.

It’s a natural fact that we can’t control very much in the world however, we can always choose our attitude every day and the way that we react to what’s going on is our most important and fundamental choice.

I have a feeling this is going to be a memorable week for some of us in our family as it is spring break and my soon to be 17-year-old Lucas wants to check out the culinary Institute up in Charleston as a potential landing spot after high school to pursue their passion of becoming a chef. I’ll be putting more miles on the GratiChariot and I’m super thankful for my local Porsche guy G money who keeps my old vehicle cruising smoothly and purring down the Interstate like a big fat 8-cylinder kitty with an attitude of gratitude.
