Morning Platitude from The GratiDude

I never lack energy anymore, I’m simply never tired.

Don’t get me wrong. I love taking short little naps during the day, but not because I don’t feel well or I am physically drained.

My naps now are like little neuro resets- 30 minutes.

Something like that provides me fresh perspectives and new views on ideas for the next chapter in my day.

I used to take naps to survive because I would feel so ill at least a couple of days a week from poisoning myself with alcohol. It was a different kind of nap. It wasn’t restful and it wasn’t a reset. It was simply hoping to wake up and not feel sick and just feel OK after the nap which would be a vast improvement over the shitty feeling I had from hanging out with that jackass Tito.

I love the fact now that I’m much more present and aware and I always have energy for other people in my interactions and in my “comings-and-goings” around town. This is very important to me as fundamentally as it is one of the most important things I can do during my day is to share my unique ability to be comfortable, expressing love and kindness to perfect strangers and friends with equal measure and ease. It’s how I naturally feel. It’s my default mechanism and it flows naturally from my heart whenever others are open to receiving it.

I remember my therapist Bruce during marriage counseling a few years ago putting together how long I’ve been sober from alcohol how long I drank and he stated for the record that I was “just figuring out what makes me happy for the first time in your adult life”.

I was floored when he said this a bit incredulously and then I let it sink in a bit.

Bruce was right!

I was basically like a two-year-old kid three-year-old maybe just coming into the world since I had only been sober from alcohol for about four years at that time and there was a lot to process and to take in obviously. Furthermore, the way alcohol impacts you’re thinking and the amount of anxiety that was present in my life for no reason just from the metabolic processing of all those toxins. It was difficult to feel super chill.

However, when it comes to making life decisions, I like to choose things that excite me that light me up and then give me the sense that I’ll have the opportunity to connect and help others in a meaningful way.

Yes, doing activities that excite you can be very good for your health, as engaging in enjoyable activities releases feel-good chemicals like dopamine and endorphins, which can positively impact your mood, stress levels, and overall well-being.

Key points about doing exciting activities for your health:

Mental health benefits:

Excitement can boost your mood, reduce stress, and improve your sense of happiness.

Physical health benefits:

Exciting activities often involve physical movement, which can contribute to better cardiovascular health, muscle strength, and improved sleep.

Social connection:

Engaging in exciting activities with others can foster social bonds and combat feelings of loneliness.

Motivation and engagement:

When you enjoy an activity, you are more likely to stick with it, leading to consistent health benefits.

Examples of exciting activities that can be good for your health:

Playing sports

Dancing

Hiking or exploring nature

Learning a new skill

Creative pursuits like painting or writing

Volunteering

I’ve done music and DJ done radio shows and I’m particularly excited about a project that I’m cooking up with Colin out in BC to bring a mindfulness podcast that will be both entertaining and informative to the world of golf that should be unique and different.

This excites me because it combines a lot of the things that I love to do with someone I really care about and love talking about subjects that I find very fascinating and interesting with the opportunity to bring on guess that will probably blow us away and further educate us on the wonders of the human mind and body and its capabilities. Stay tuned for more information on “The Five and a half inches” podcast coming Q2 2025.

And when you have options in your life between various positions at work, different experiences with your family my firm advice to you is to always choose the option that excites. Choose the path that may be more difficult but is certainly more energizing and rewarding in the end.

Because when you feel the excitement or anticipation of something, that is your higher self, driving your intuition to message you that you should do it.

Don’t let fear drown out that original message and instead go with that first message and take the leap.

You can thank me later and share your stories with everyone because that’s your attitude of gratitude.
