Morning Platitude from The GratiDude
There is a Bob Marley lyric that says, “when the rain falls it don’t fall on one man’s house”. In other words when a disaster, a calamity, a political upheaval, an economic recession, a hurricane, large groups of society are impacted all at once.
The hard cold reality is that it is the poor, sick, and elderly always get hit the hardest and bear the brunt of the impacts of all major difficult shifts locally or globally.
It hits the folks that have already been hit the hardest.
When I am praying and meditating for people, and it could be the people that were impacted by the storms up in the Asheville area it could be my friends in SoCal, who left for breakfast in the morning, and by evening, their entire neighborhood was burnt to the ground.
It could also be the people internationally, in Quito, Ecuador for example, which have been working with an NGO like USAID and that overnight has been shut down or without income to support their families and communities.
You are a political refugee from Afghanistan who helped us with our efforts over there, however you are now denied admission to the USA because we have shut down all Refugee admissions for the first time since 1776.
You could not have seen that coming.
A political election with its abrupt swing of the pendulum can be just as devastating to certain communities or tax brackets as a hurricane was to the people in and around Asheville.
There’s no way to prepare and there is no way to know what’s coming and the ferocity and the impact always exceeded what you imagined when it is a real disaster.
We all don’t have unlimited financial resources, necessarily, and time is our most precious resources. We’ll find out as we approach the day that we end our experience in the human form and move forward into a reintegration with the source of all light love energy in life the energy inside me doesn’t disappear it simply changes form and location, which obviously is beyond my understanding or ability to explain because that’s just a wait-and-see type of situation.
What we do have unlimited amounts of or potentially unlimited amounts of is compassion and kindness towards others.
The challenge for most of us is to be present in the moment of now in order to recognize opportunities either where a small act might be impactful or to see or have the courtesy to ask if somebody might be in need of help or if they are going through some challenging times and may simply like to talk to someone about these challenges.
I call it the Love Wallet, and the Love Wallet has an unlimited line of credit because the currency that it shares comes from a source of abundance that has no limit.
We all know and have experienced the circular nature of when we give love and really open our hearts, how that energy rebounds and flows back to us in the form of appreciation in the expressions from others that we are having that experience with.
Yes, kindness can potentially save a life, as a simple act of kindness can significantly impact someone struggling with mental health issues, loneliness, or difficult situations, potentially giving them the strength to seek help or continue living; making them feel less alone and more connected to others can be life-saving.
Key points about saving lives:
Impact on mental health:
Kindness can positively influence someone’s mental state by reducing stress, boosting self-esteem, and creating a sense of belonging.
Reaching out to those struggling:
A simple gesture like asking someone if they are okay or offering a listening ear can make a big difference for someone considering self-harm or suicide.
Building connections:
Showing kindness can foster a sense of community and connection, which can be crucial for individuals feeling isolated.
And I’d like to tell myself regularly I have no clue what other people are going through or have gone through. An exercise I started way back in my 20s was to work on catching myself being judgmental of others assuming I know what’s going on with them and then come up with as many different scenarios as to what’s going on with them that are equally plausible and just as likely. What this does immediately addresses the fact that I really don’t know what’s going on and I am just experiencing a moment of my ego wishing to create a narrative where I feel superior, or I can be correct. Both of which are some weak bullshit that I don’t need and don’t help me in the pursuit of my own personal greatness or simply my own happiness.
We must be the ones that hold ourselves accountable to our own thoughts, and the only way to do that is to create awareness by getting comfortable in the present moment.
I saw another interview with Denzel Washington talking about the importance of morning stillness and not grabbing your phone first thing. We are so aligned on the same page with this message and how critical it is that for me it’s reassuring, and it’s also cool to know that others feel this strongly about that first few minutes of the day and how the first five minutes set the tone for the next 500 minutes
Don’t eat a shit sandwich for breakfast and hope to have fresh breath all day.
All the Listerine in the world can’t wash away negative thoughts of fear, scarcity emotions that you introduced first thing to your vulnerable mind and organism after it’s come out of its subconscious slumber.
Self-love starts first thing in the morning with your first move and you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube once you dip into your phone or open your laptop or tablet. You’re done.
Instead, deep breaths and a thank you are all the prayer meditation and morning routine you need. Feet on the ground and deep breast, clearing out your lungs, and simply saying, thank you for having your conscious awareness know where you are in your body and that you can locomote today under your own volition and to take nourishment.
In the words of George Clinton: “ shit goddamn, get off your ass and jam “.
And here in Florida, we have another BIG Golf Industry event!
We have some big-time leaders in the club and resort industry, all visiting Tampa for the world CMAA event.
I’m excited that I’ll be able to attend tomorrow and see all sorts of wonderful people like my brother Hogger(Dave Hodgson) who was instrumental in helping me build my meditation practice going back about six years, my dear friend Ed Ronan who is my lifestyle how-to-have-maximium Fun mentor. I hope to see the elusive Joe Mendez up there, the Pennsylvania Player, and many others because it’s always all about relationships and human connection.
Feeling extra extraordinarily wealthy today with my priceless clarity on what is truly important in this life and that I can tell the difference between the messages that come from the programming driving my behavior to do things that aren’t healthy and the messages that come from something bigger than me that guide me in a proper direction towards health and wellness.
Let me know if I can help you. I’ve got all sorts of tricks and hacks and within 14 days I can turn your frown upside down. Try me and my attitude of gratitude.
